this is an article from espn.com by jayson stark, its pretty interesting. he basically debunks the notion that the HR derby throws off your swing for the 2nd half. he also rips into AROD.

but seriously why are there no yankees? last time in yankee stadium and not one of them could do it? Giambi said he'd do it if the fans voted him into the ASG(nice attitude big guy). Arod wont do it, Matsui's hurt, Abreu maybe? Damn even Jeter in would be something, i just cant believe there are NO yankees.

The eight players who will participate in Monday's Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium (8 p.m. ET, ESPN):

* 1. Lance Berkman, Astros
* 2. Ryan Braun, Brewers
* 3. Josh Hamilton, Rangers
* 4. Evan Longoria, Rays
* 5. Justin Morneau, Twins
* 6. Grady Sizemore, Indians
* 7. Dan Uggla, Marlins
* 8. Chase Utley, Phillies

Dan Ugglas been hurt for like a week and half, if anyone shouldnt be in this its him cause hes hurt and the Marlins are actually still in contention.

Why not take him out for medical reasons and put any yankee in, i dont care who it is. this just isnt right.

Well it's basically a volunteer thing so if they don't wanna do it, then they don't wanna do it.

If the Yankees who made the All-Star team didnt want to do it, then that's their decision...

Stark needs to shut up. He's upset about a baseball player not taking part in something that isn't a baseball game. I hope his editor punched him in the eye before he let this thing go.

I'm sure if he was really hurt, he wouldnt doit, and/ or the fish wouldnt let him.

Abreu probably wants no part of this competition, after he won it is when his power numbers dropped completely off

Giambi said he would go if he made the All-Star team, and he didn't. HR Derby is a joke either way, who cares.

ARod doesnt want to, Jeter in the derby would be stupid, he is not and never was a power hitter at all. cano isnt an all star, giambis not an all star, posadas not an all star, matsuis hurt and didnt make the team, no one in the yankee outfield is an all star....and to be in the derby you have to be an all star. and you cant take a national leaguer out to put in an american leaguer.

Yeah, during the Derby, a commentator (Reilly?) really ripped on him, saying the HR Derby is better without him or something along those lines. Hamilton kicked ***, though.

:laugh:

Seriously though, I take no issue with this, as I assume no Yankee fan should. If A-Rod didn't want to participate, who cares?
