Damnit this is a good debate to have at your local bar or pub. You order a couple beers with your buddies (or even the nearest stranger) and begin debating the merits of Bull Durham vs. Field of Dreams (do you prefer laughing with Kevin Costner or crying with him?) You move on to women playing baseball vs. kids playing baseball (League of Their Own vs. Sandlot) and then profess your love for either Roy Hobbs in The Natural vs. Roger Maris in 61*. I don't think there's any other sport that has as many great movies made about it that open up the opportunity for debate, discussion and disaggreament.

Here's a great 16-seed bracket of the the greatest baseball movies of all-time. Make your vote, make your argument.

The Sandlot is the greatest sports movie ever made.

Personally Bad News Bers is one of my favs, the orig that is. Although I did like the new one a little. I also really like Bull Durham, Filed of Dreams, The Sandlot and a League of Their Own. It's really hard for me to decide my fav.

Bull Durham...

I always loved 61* for some reason. Maybe because I'm obsessed with 1960s baseball. Defining best is tough really. Major League is fantastic for comedy and quotes, but isn't the best baseball movie.

I played independent ball, and I think Bull Durham sums up the minor league experience PERFECTLY. It really has everything.

Field of Dreams is my favorite though

I'm torn between sandlot and major league.
Sandlot solidified my interest in baseball as a kid, but major league is so classic.

hmmm.... i guess i have a lot of reflecting to do..
