shaq was the trth in his first like 9 years so its okay in some ways. even now tho he thinks he still deserves his rediculous salary but in nw way does he at all. thats why i put him at number 1. at least arenas is still in his prime. and kobe is arguably the best player in the league so he can back his a lot more. billups and rasheed are bothevery very very cocky people, but they dont get enough tv time to show their personalities. maybe thats because ppl hate detroit. even rip is cocky as idk what. all in all, id go shaq, arenas, sheed, billups, kobe(he seems more humbled now too)

Not many people can achieve what he did, so in the past he had the right, He didn't have an ego in his earlier days, especially when he admitted before Chamberlain and Hakeem and other guys were better than him

shaq did do a lot, and because of his accomplishments he is a very arrogantman. however, maybe i am biased against him because people always say shaq won those 3 titles and snub kobe. he would not have won w/o kobe. kobe helped incredibly. a post needs his bigs. also he claims kobe couldnt do w/o him but the year dwade won, shaq did absolutely nothing in the finals. wade won that by himself excep for zo and posey. he alone put dwade on jordaans evel by winning a title w/o a legit big man. and that is probably why i am so biased agaist him. he doesnt admit he has always had help

i heard a quote from ron artest saying he wanted to be traded to a contender where he would be the number one option... if that was an accurate quote, couple that with some other things and i would put him number one, he could be a great player if he shut his mouth, played defence and accepted being a lock down defender, with limited offensive skills

Billups come on....I can't think of one quote he said that made me think man he's full of himself.....I hate kobe's overall personality...he comes off as pompose fool who think he's better than everyone else on the planet, just because he's good at basketball....Shaq make the biggest quotes..."When I get mad I go and do something like win championships"......but overall he's a good guy.
Marbury is one of the most hated people in the nba....Everyone on the knicks says he's a terrible team mate..only cares about himself.
Gilbert probably wins though saying he's gonna drop 50 on teams before they play them...setting his team up for a fall...and pumping up the other teams.....Gilbert does stuff like that all year long .....biggest ego might go to him....peace

No doubt in my mind its Shaq. He didn't want to share the spotlight with Penny, Kobe, or Wade even though the combinations where amazing. And I'm tired of hearing him say, "...so and so person is going to have a career year now that thye have me." Shaq is the biggest headcase/egotistical maniac in the nba without a doubt!

I voted Kobe, not really knowing much about Arenas off the court or things that he has said, my vote is purely based off of seeing many of Kobe's and the other guys interviews. I am in Detroit and yes these guys are cocky and need to shut thier mouths and focus on getting out of the East more than twice in the 6 times they have been there but Kobe just carries this arrogance like he is better than Jordan, which he will never be, but I guess we can blame the media on that issue for making the comparisons.

Yah I can see that. I remember when he bashed those shoes that were 15 dollars, saying that they were cheap and had no quality when they were actually the same exact quality and material of Lebrons shoes. Lebron was also saying how he and Nike only like to have high quality standards. That is pretty messed up because he is pretty much bashing poor people.

Yah, Lebron has said some stupid things. Like the one time he said that he passes to his teammates so they would think they are worthy of him and think that he respects them...I was thinking, shouldn't you pass to your teammates because their open and not because you want them to feel worthy and respected.

Perhaps he should choose a different marketing strategy and say that Nike only carries the worst shoes? If I were the CEO of Nike, I know I'd be absolutely thrilled if he would say that. I'd actually double what I was paying him.
Lebron James does his job. What an *******.

I don't have a problem with him promoting his shoe, but I have a problem with him basically bashing poor people. Also the notion that shoes are more expensive because of quality is laughable...Lebron should know that his name is the only reason his shoes are $200, not because of its "high" quality.

Lebron actually said that. Skip Bayless was bashing the heck out of him the next day on 1st and 10. BTW, did you just make that up or is there really a I hate Lebron website.

IMO, him bashing poor people is a very thin argument to someone who isn't 100% bias against him. Is he stretching the truth on his shoes? Absolutely-- no question about that. At no point though does he say little Billy is less of a person because he can't afford those shoes, or that Jimmy won't make it in life because he can't either.
Consider for a moment if Lebron was the official Juicy Juice sponsor. He would say the exact same thing- that his product was of the highest quality with 100% juice, and that they hold themselves to the highest standards. Now, if that was $5 per bottle instead of say $3, is he still making fun of poor people? I don't see how. It just so happens that the money scale is different and that there are people willing to spend $200 on a pair of shoes that are worth a fraction of that-- which I think everyone understands. Nike certainly does, that's why they pay him over $100 million to sell their product at that price-- they're not giving him that money to throw undertones of cynicism towards poor people while promoting the product, because that hurts both the company image as well as his, which means they can't sell $200 shoes anymore, and he can't have their contract. He's not going to throw away $100 million dollars to take subliminal cracks at poor people.
I can't afford the shoes, but I certainly don't feel offended by it-- and I think the only people who would are the same people who would be offended by being "it" in a game of tag.

I'll leave my personal opinions about Skip Bayless aside and just say that his job is not to make accurate statements-- it's to make controversial ones. I didn't see the episode, but unless there's 100% video evidence proof of Lebron saying that, I wouldn't accept it as fact and then judge his character for it. That's the kind of blind acceptance that sends over 200,000 troops to Iraq.

And yes, I think it's just called ihatelebronjames.com

kobe doesn't have that big of an ego considering he is one of the best players in the game right now. Arenas or Shaq definitely. Kobe doesn't comment back on anyone who put hims down. ie Shaq, but his talent is second to none. Even Jordan had an ego, but his talents proved he deserved to be treated with the best. Kobe has applauded his teammates this past year and GM, and has taken back those comments on Bynum- sign of maturity and putting team before himself.

This list could be a lot longer, especially if you include coaches and front office people. As a Bulls fan, you can't tell me there were bigger egos than the Phil Jackson/MJ/Jerry Krause ("Teams don't win championships; organizations win championships")/Jerry Reinsdorf quartet (even after Rodman). Then there's James Dolan/Isiah Thomas- The only reason that lasted longer than it took the ink to dry on the contracts was because of huge egos. Larry Brown, Larry Bird, Pat Riley, Mike D'Antoni... more and more

As far as players, I'd put a few more on there-
Iverson
Yi
Vince Carter
KG
Steve Francis
Corey Magette
McGrady

These are people who haven't been mentioned in the thread as of my reading of it.

I think the list could potentially be enormous. But that said, if you're talking about "having a big ego" and "having a bad attitude" then they're two different things. I think Kobe and Shaq have the two biggest egos, but I mean what do you expect?

He was trying to bash Marburys shoes though and it is pretty ignorant to think higher prices equal higher quality. I don't know if you know Skip Bayless, but the guy has been controversial since he was with the Dallas newspapers. He is not being paid by ESPN to say crazy thing about Lebron because he has been saying these things for forever and ESPN and Nike need to hype Lebron up to much to be paying a guy to be putting him down on a daily basis.
