from Cardinals media relations:

A sports hernia was ruled out and he's getting treatment for a groin strain. Will rest and begin baseball activities on Thursday, 7/17, following the All-Star Break.

In case anyone was wondering.

Garcia, Rasmus out of Futures Game
Lefty called up to Cards; outfielder sidelined by groin strain
By Matthew Leach / MLB.com

PHILADELPHIA -- Jaime Garcia is not the only Cardinals prospect who will have to miss the upcoming XM All-Star Futures Game, though he's surely the only one who's happy about it.

Garcia, who was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, will not pitch in the game for the best reason of all -- he's in the Major Leagues. In addition, outfielder Colby Rasmus will not be able to play for the United States team because he is injured.

Taking Garcia's place on the World team will be right-handed reliever Fernando Salas, who is enjoying a breakthrough year at Double-A Springfield. Salas has a 2.76 ERA in 38 appearances, with 69 strikeouts and 11 walks in 49 innings.

they say he might if we send him down soon.

Why would we send him down soon? he pitched 2 scoreless innings tonight.

I saw Salas pitch June 30th.

I saw Salas pitch June 30th.

He was shaky in that game, looking at his stats.

They won. 5-4 I think (if I remember correctly). Louie the Redbird came over to us and posed for my camera.

Maybe I should get those pics put up on Photobucket tomorrow.

Louie did pushups and his arms were shaking, and Louie stood like a woman. Dad thought maybe Louie is played by a woman.
