I would say no. Huge gain in offense means a huge loss at Defense. Want to see your opinions.

Warriors fans :pity: you think one playoff appearence for the first time in 13 years means you are gonna win a championship. you just lost your best player. you will be lucky to get 35 wins

The thread is NOT a competition between the Clippers and the Warriors. It asks whether a Don Nelson coached team will ever win a championship. Stay on topic.

Just because Don Nelson never won a title with "Nellieball", doesn't mean it can't be done.

its not necessarily for the Warriors. Goes for any team that will run the system, trying to see the opinions on the general NBA public.

well usually all the fast break teams relies heavily on 3's, and if they can't hit a 3, then the team is done

No, the game is won in the paint, run and gun style works during the regular season, but in the playoffs the game is one in the half court set, it's all about execution and being able to win the battle down low.

ok what about a run and gun team that can play D? i would definately say yes. Picture Phoenix scoring 110 points a game and allowing 95 they would win at least 60 games

defence wins championships.. nellie ball = no d. no d = no championship.

Unless you guys make a big move and sign Josh Smith or someone of that caliber i have to agree that you won't see past 35-40 games......The Kings however will see passed 35-40 games as long as we stay healthy. If we stay healthy we are in the playoff hunt for that 6-8 spot. So don't get all defensive its just reality. Who knows thoe, the Warriors could randomly come out of no where and start being amazing even with no proven "star" on the team.

Run and gun won't get it done, go ask Phoenix!

Warriors are one of the higher teams at "points in the paint". What are you talking about?

I don't understand why a team can't run n' gun and play defense at the same time. Just because you run in your offense doesn't mean you can't get back to play D. it's a whole different part of the game. Why can't a team be a running team and be a good rebounding team as well? Isn't it easier to get on the open floor when you have a good defensive rebounder with a good outlet pass?

I believe if the right team is constructed, it can win the championships with the run-gun offense.

and besides, I enjoy watching faster paced teams. Who the hell wants to turn on the TV and watch teams kill 23 seconds on the shot clock by just passing the ball around meaninglessly? as a fan, I would like to see the NBA evolve into a faster pace.

It wont happen. Look @ the Suns. Mike D tried it for 4 seasons in Phoenix, and his team ran out of gas come playoff time. I think Phoenix will be more legit because of the fact that We have a defensive minded coach.

No, Offense sells tickets and defense wins championships.

No:

Why? Because you can't ultimately set the pace as a run and gun team. You can only set the pace as a slow, grind it out, half-court team. You can make the game fast paced for some period of time, but it will only last so long before the other team slows the game.

Had Mark Cuban retained steve nash in Dallas and kept Nellie. I guarantee nellie ball would have won a title maybe even 2. You guys can't tell me Nellie would have let that series slip away like Avery did. Avery's success was all based on Nellie's foundation (hence why hes jobless)

About the poll...I dunno, I don't think you can say that it will NEVER win, I mean the showtime lakers won 5 as a fastbreak team
