I think Andrea should go back to being #11. He was #11 for a few days before we brought in TJ. I know some people think that its just a number, but to others it may be a confidence, luck or what have you. Also this way Jermaine O'neal will be able to keep his #7 if he wants to.

Any Thoughts.

numbers aren't important. it's the name on the front of the jersey that matters.

numbers and small things like that matter. Atheleets are very supersticious. You guys remember Hornysack from the jazz like 10 years ago, when he would shoot freethrows he would pet his own face. I hope Andrea picks a new number might be good for him.

Well said my friend. 'Play for the name on the front of your jersey, not the back.'

Some players are very Superstitious, to not have their number can spell disaster, Im not saying it will happen to JO but I think numbers are more important to some players than many believe. Heck I know this from experience playing varsity ball in university, the name on the front of course is the most important thing but the number on the back means a lot to certain players if it has some meaning to them. Perhaps their father wore that number for example. These things cant always be taken lightly.

first come first serve. I remember reading once that andrea wanted 7, he played 11 in itally bc 7 was taken.

It's really not 1st come 1st serve though. It's usually years in the league and how good you are. If Oneal wants #7 I will bet my sig that he gets it.

if oneal wants 7 andrea shuld give it to him, if not than pick a number and go with is. I dont think Andrea is stupid enough not to give it to him and i hope that JO is not dumb enough to coem in to a new team and have demands allready. and if you rememebr andrea allready gave up his # 11 to Tj so there is no reason for him not to give up # 7, i dotn think he wants to piss of the fans or make rifts in the locker room and same goes for JO, and if the do then we are screds in terms of locker room atmosphere.

A number is a number.

numbers can sometimes mean something. For example in 06 Lyle Overbay wore # 35 and had a career year. When Thomas came along Overbay changed his # to 17. Ever since then Overbay has sucked ***.

Bargs # 7, Oneal # 11

Sure there is a reason. A veteran and a 6 time allstar wants it.

It is first come first serve....but there's been lots of situations where a new players come in....Other out of respect ....someone might give up there number...in other cases the player's gave him money for the number.
Ive also heard... if he can beat me up he can take the number.

LOL! wat makes u think pple are gonna beat eachother up....but ur right about the respect thing, i remember when C-web went 2 philly and iggy got there and wore #4....then C-web was like how he wore #4 all his life and out of respect iggy let him take and he wore #9 instead

Whats With All The Andrea Haters..?? The Guy Had A Pretty Good Rookie Season..(2nd In Roy Voting) And Then Had A Bad Year In A Postion That He Isnt Use To..playing Against The Best Centres In The World!!! He's Not A Centre...give The Guy A Chance To Grow...i Was As Frustrated As Anyone Watching The Games....but U Got Give The Guy Some Leeway...give Him A Chance To Adjust....and Yes I Know This Post Is About Jersey Number...

I don't care if they change numbers BUT if Andrea does change numbers then I hope it somehow gives him a fresh start mentally.

KG changed his # when he went to boston

Because KG didnt mind/wanted a new number? I think people are taking this a little too serious. If JO wants the number I am sure Andrea wont really put up a fight. Management will ask Andrea to take a different number and Jermaine will buy him something nice. If Oneal doesnt care then all this is a mute point.
