I'm looking at the lineups and the pitchers and I think the NL should win this game. They have the superior infield by far and better pitching. I think the outfield play is better for the AL but that is it.

Possible lineups:

NL
Ramirez ss
Utley 2b
jones 3b
Pujols dh
Berckman 1b
Braun lf
Holliday rf (soriano injured)
Soto c
Fukodome cf

AL
Ichiro rf
Jeter ss
A-Rod 3b
hamilton cf
manny lf
youkilis 1b
mauer c
bradley dh
pedoria 2b

this is who i pick

1B Berkman over Youk
2B Utley over Pedroia
3B Arod over Jones
SS hanley over Jeter
LF Soriano over Manny
RF Ichiro over Braun
CF Hamilton for sure. Fukudome is a joke
C Soto over Mauer
DH Holliday over Bradley

The pitching in NL tops AL.

i'd take the NL to win

I'd put Pujols as DH

Gold GLover should play his position later in the game and it will create more pop later in the game for the NL

Too bad Sori isn't starting..

I understand you're thinking of easily taking Hamilton, and I agree.. But calling Fukudome a joke? The guy has an OBP of .391. That's no joke, in my book. Sure, he doesn't deserve the nod to start this game, but he is far from a joke..

Very much agreed there.

i said that before the lineup was edited.

i do think pujols should be a reserve just cause of his defense. but as a cardinal fan.... im glad he is starting

I'd also consider this season atleast Chipper and A-Rod tied.

I also love the NL bench a lot more and this game is won late not early usually.

yeah it is very close btwn arod and jones. i also thought that of soriano and manny if soriano is healthy but i guess hes not starting anymore so i guess the AL takes all OF categories

in a clutch situation in the game i'd perfer to have jones up over a-rod.

i'm think burrell will make the squad to replace soriano even if he isn't voted in. i hope david wright doesn't get the vote, i hate mets fans and media acting as if he is the next mantle. he is a solid player but not a superstar.

I'd say they both make it since Sori is out.

All these guys are huge names, the All-Star game is impossible to predict. A few years ago Rocket started the game the AL like hit for the cycle in the first inning. Absolutely unpredictable.

i just don't think wright is that good.

i remember that and piazza was catching i thought he was giving away the pitches to the batters just for pay back.

if it gets late i like the pen of the al better but the bats in the nl dugout, could be interesting.

The NL pitching is downright filthy (especially the starters). Their offense is better too.

The NL should win. Like I've said all year, they've finally caught up to the AL...unfortunately.

i just don't think wright is that good.

just look at the numbers, he is one of the best players in the game today. In his 1st full 3 seasons he averaged
.312 BA
.390 OBP
.530 SLG
140 OBS+
28 HR
108 RBI
23 SB

that is really terrible.

I don't think that Fukudome necessarily sucks, I just don't think he is worthy of starting the All-Star game. I don't even think he should be an All-Star.

Also, why doesn't Brian McCann get the start over Soto????

Hits K's Runs HR AVG SLG
B. McCann- 88 41 37 15 .293 .533
G. Soto- 85 77 33 15 .289 .527

I agree that McCann's numbers are not A LOT better, but they are better so why doesn't he get the nod over a rookie?

And that's been proven how? The NL was pathetic in interleague again this season and I could care less who they have over on their team because I won't pick them to win another All Star game until they can prove it.

Interleague didn't prove it, you are right...but talent-wise, I think they are better. The AL does have more elite teams still, but in a game like the all-star game, the NL should win. They have the far better players.

The AL top teams are probably better than the NL top teams, but as a whole, the NL has more talent. Maybe they aren't the better league yet, because they lack great teams, but I do think they have better players.

I'm not agree, actually I think it is a fact that the American League will beat the National league starting in the first... let's say 3 innings... :D

Well we've got a better chance now. Espn reports that Matt Holliday is starting in place of Alfonso Soriano.
