AL: Jermaine Dye
NL: Carlos Lee

I've already voted for Evan Longoria with 4 different emails on mlb.com totaling 100 times and I'm going to do that everyday this week along with a bunch of my friends....we all went to school at Long Beach State with Evan and this dude deserves the final vote....He is the Best player on the Best team in baseball....He has 4 game winning hits and makes webgem plays every night.....Oh yea he played the first two weeks of the season at AAA also.....Hands down Evan Longoria should win

For the NL I could careless since I'm a Dodgers fan but I voted for burrell

P.S. How the eff did fukadome make the all-star team as a starter???this guy shouldn't be near an all-star team....theres at least 10 NL outfielders more deserving than that guy

JDIsMyGod23
07-06-2008, 05:53 PM
Gave half to Wright and Burrell. And Dye OBVIOUSLY. I just wish Longoria was there already over Crede.

Based on stats you should take Giambi.

Giambi- Runs (45), Hits (63), Doubles (13), Triples (1), Homeruns (18), RBI (53), Total Bases (132), Walks (43), K's (46), Steals (2), OBP (.395), SLG (.543), Batting Average (.259)

Dye- Runs (51), Hits (97), Doubles (19), Triples (1), Homeruns (19), RBI (52), Total Bases (175), Walks (26), K's (59), Steals (3), OBP (.363), SLG (.556), Batting Average (.308)

So I'm not really seeing why based on stats it should be Giambi...

Dye:

Obviously Giambi's overall OPS is going to be higher because he walks a lot more.

Sick Of It All
07-06-2008, 10:23 PM
Point is that thats why his OPS+ and OPS is higher and therefore your basing your stance that he should get the final vote based mostly on that specific stat. Dye has a lot more total bases, more homers, more doubles and a higher BA and so on.

...not saying that Giambi walking more is bad, is good actually, but imo thats not a reason why he should get in the all star game over Dye.

If Burrell doesn't get in, easily the biggest snub of the ASG. I'll be voting him and Longoria.

Dude the guy is a Twins fan, he hates the White Sox and doesn't want nor think anyone from the White Sox deserves to be on the team. He was complaining before how he thought Quentin shouldn't be and Scott Baker was getting snubbed.

Its okay Giambi will make it because he is a yankee and the game is in yankee stadium.

Boo whoo..

At least they got something right by not having Scott Baker make the allstar team. :D

Ummm....huh?

First of all, where do you get the idea that I hate the White Sox?

Also, I never said anything about Quentin not deserving to be on the All Star team.

And I mentioned Baker as someone who wouldn't make it but would be 'deserving'. That's different than a snub.

Your entire post is a ****ing reach.

How many .259 hitters carry a .500+ SLG?

His isolated power is off the charts.

Take it as you will. You have always been Mr. negativity when it comes to the White Sox. You have stated many a times that Quentin got off to a good start and will not keep that pace. You also word your phrases a certain way so I will rephrase mine. You said there were a lot more deserving players to make the team then Quentin.

Look I respect the Twins as an organization and have always liked the way they played. They have good players and a good team. Its sad you can't feel the same way about the Sox. You find any chance you get to prove that the Sox are overrated and will falter. If you noticed the Twins have won 18 out of their last 21 games and are STILL in second. Thats not saying its not only a matter of time before they pass the Sox. Any team who goes on a stretch like that and keeps it up should be unstoppable. But, they weren't able to pass the Sox during that stretch. That should say something about the Sox.

Look this is the wrong thread to argue about this so I won't keep this up, let you have some rant back on how I am wrong and you are not a biased fan. If you would like to discuss this more on another thread or privately, let me know.

Now back to the topic.

Based on hitting AND FIELDING, Dye has been fantastic in both. If you were not going to vote for Dye, you have to Vote for Longoria. Giambi is having a great season, but you shouldn't make the allstar team based on walks (which is your point on his OPS) If that were the case, have you looked at Jack Custs stats?????

I'm not more negative on the White Sox than I am any other 'non-Twins' team, and I think my Minnesota comrades would argue that I'm pretty objective when it comes to my boys as well.

Nonetheless, Giambi's IsoPower suggests he's not just 'walking'.
