WE WILL NOT HAVE CAP ROOM NEXT YEAR!

Sorry for the shouting but the cap is not that hard to figure out!!!!

If you want to sign Buike, Andris, and Monta....Then there goes our cap for years to come! The reason why we can sign a big free agent this time is cause most of our players are free agents and they have "bird rights" (except for Buike) meaning we can sign them even if we are over the cap.

However we need to sign them after we get a free agent!!!! If we sign them before the money that they will make will take up the cap, and we can't go over the cap to sign other peoples free agents.

The simple fact is that next years free agents don't matter! After Buike, Andris, and Monta....We will be over the cap!

thats what the warriors are trying to do but you cant force Brand to sign (even when you offer him the max :sigh:)

thats what the warriors are trying to do but you cant force Brand to sign (even when you offer him the max :sigh:)I understand that. With Andris and Monta signing...We will not have an ounce of Cap room to sign anyone, let alone Boozer! The reason we can this year is because Andris and Monta have "Byrd rights", meaning we can go over the cap to sign them. If we sign them (AND WE BETTER!!!) their salaries will count against the cap for however long they sign. That means we will have no room next year, and we can only do sign and trades, trades, Mid level exception (like 5 or 6 mil a year for someone) and minimum contracts. Those are all a lot harder then what are situation is now, which is that we have cap room! Meaning even if it isn't Brand...we need to make a splash while we can, waiting for next year is not an option since Monta and Andris $$$ will count then!

If that is the case then why is ESPN and everyone else saying that Atlanta cant match a max offer to Smith. Doesnt he also have his 'byrd' rights?

1) That wasn't from ESPN. It was linked to them from a Philly blog. So it isn't as reliable.
2) The blog talked about the W's bein able to offer more than the 76ers. It didn't really talk about the Hawks.
3) on ESPN it say's that the Hawks GM say's he will match any offer for Smith.
4) It is actually "Bird rights". It was implemented to help the Celts keep Larry Bird.

brand will decide if he will stay in la by monday or tuesday, he said he wanted the weekend to think about what he wanted to do, and that means the warriors already have an advantage because he is taking the money into concideration over the chance to go back to the clippers.

I agree, I think its a strong possibility at this point that he comes to Oakland. He would have denied our offer by now if not.
