View Full Version : Why Not Lopez? Lost faith in Front Office

Maybe Im completely naive but I really feel as though the Bobcats made a huge mistake in passing over Lopez. He seemed the perfect offensive complement to the defensive Okafor and the size that we need to move Emeka over to power forward and improve his own production.

He was listed as Jay Bilas's 3rd best player available after Rose and Beasley and I couldn't believe that Lopez was still available. I was certain that there was no way that we would choose anybody else as we are starved for front court help but we chose another point guard! Doesn't solve a single problem and we still need to get a new big man (don't have a 1st rounder next year btw).

Don't get me wrong, I think Augustine is a good player but he isn't even 6 ft tall and we all know the history of small point guards in the NBA.

I thought that I would get over this but the more I think about it the more I bothers me. How could we let the ideal player for our team and in my opinion the best player available slip through our fingers? It's just made me lost faith in our front office.

I really think that MJ doesn't have any idea what he's doing, we need to get him out of here. Im thinking about talking to the owner and seeing if he wants to take any applications for the GM position.

The thing is, he wasn't the ideal player for our team. Slow, no offensive post game, defensive specialist. He's the exact mold of Okafor, and we need someone that is the exact opposite of Okafor. That's why Ajinca makes much more sense.

You should have lost faith in your front office when Jordan joined it

i have to agree with you, should have gone for lopez and a G at 20. but they wanted hibbert at 20 and didnt know what to do when he was gone. he would have been too slow with little post game, so i think that would have been worse than lopez, guess we wont know either way. i have lost faith too.

i agree, if i was in Charlotte's situation, i would have picked Lopez in an instant, but the only reason i can think of for drafting Augustin over Brook is because they could be looking into moving Felton next year in the offseason, or maybe even this year near the deadline for a big man, because i believe Augustin is more of a point guard then Felton, and that's what Charlotte probably thought aswell
look for either Felton, or maybe even Augustin (if he's a disappointment; which he shouldn't be) to get traded for a true center, maybe they could even get a guy like Marcus Camby because Denver is looking for a PG so A.I. can play the 2.

I thought they were going to draft Lopez too but they took DJ, over him, but dont expect Alot from Lopez his brother has more upside then he does so be happy you didnt, besides Dj reminds me of Nash. So be happy you took DJ.

I'm glad we took DJ cause there wasn't any good points at 20. I think Ajinca has a chance to be pretty good. Maybe not at center but as an athletic 4 like bosh. He still has to grow and get better though.

The bobcats have centers they nazr mohammed. If they get rid of felton or augustin then who will they have to be a good back up point guard, although they could sign a free agent center.

The picking of Augustin would have been Ok if they had a back up plan to pick a big man or trade for a big man later on. I'm still a little baffled as to why the wanted Roy Hibbert so badly. He's slow, and he never really dominated in college despite being so much larger than his counterparts. thinking of Nazr Mohammed as someone we can count on in the post isn't very settling. Even if Ajinca turns out to be an All-Star he's still years away, he helps us in no way whatsoever right now. Trading Raymond Felton makes some since to move, but in doing that we would have no one behind Augustin should he not be ready for the big stage. It seems to me, and I say this sadly, that the Bobcats have one of the worst if not the worst front offices in the league. Bob Johnson is a joke as an owner, MJ is a joke as a player personnel guy (although he's still the greatest player ever). Neither one of the guys even show up for that many games. They are both "out of town guys". I think instead of figuring out ways to trade players we need to figure out a way to get rid of these guys...George Shinn ruined pro basketball in Charlotte...I can't believe the NBA stuck us with Bob Johnson..
