MLB should take the allstar weekend and play with it a lil.....

1. How about a quickest around the bases....?

2. Most accurate arm? (any player)

3. Longest throw.....(how sick would it be for Vladi to be @ home plate and trying to throw it outta park? hehe)

Quickest and longest throw would be VERY interesting.

Though, I bet the MLB would never consider it, as they don't want these players getting hurt for any reason other than the All Star Game and regular games (And I guess the silly HRD, too).

I hear ya....the NBA's allstar weekend gave me the idea.....but dont they owe the fans an entertaining weekend....due to the fact we:

1. basically pay them

2. vote them in to the allstar game

the quickest around the bases and most accurate are good ideas, but i dont think the farthest throw would be, someone could throw out their arm and get hurt

All fo them would be cool especially the farthest arm but theres to big of a risk of players getting hurt while in the NBA shooting 3 pointers arent that bad lol.

Victorino would definitely be in the running for longest throw and most accurate arm.

All of those would be cool to have at the All-star game

Burn!

You know, everyone is saying they don't want to see the longest throw because of injury risk, but isn't there an injury risk on timed races for fastest?

why would someone risk throwing out their arm..
or pulling a hammy :(

There is an injury risk walking from your car to the clubhouse. The longest throw shouldn't be that much of an issue because for the millions of dollars these guys get paid I would hope their arms would be strong enough for a few long throws.....

I agree..... like dunkers do put themselves at risk when they attempt crazy dunks? Everyday activities put athletes at risk..... See Jason Spezza Ottawa sens, putting his back out during playoffs while taking groceries outta the car.
Do something for the fans.
Make it more interesting.

Let's all be as bias as possible about picks on contests that don't exist, Aramis Ramirez for fastest around the bases, Juan Pierre for strongest arm, Jacque Jones for most accurate!

I'd like to see a hitting for average derby. Players get soft pitches and they try to hit it in the field and get to first. They do this many times until there's 10 outs. I know, stupid idea, but I think it would be funny to see them running back and forth.

Win all of them, probably not. Compete for all of them, yes.

IMO these competitions would cause too much injury. Here's an idea:

Have and RBI tournament and HR tourney

The RBI is kinda like wiffle ball. ONe are is an out, the next a single, double, triple, and out of the oark is a homer. So, if you hit a single, then double, you have runners on 2nd and 3rd. You can then hit them in by getting a hit. For this, you do match play. Take all the players in the ALL STAR game and seed them 1-16 based on most rbis. You then do match play from that, and in the match, the person who bats the most runs in wins

the HR tourney would be just a match play HR derby
