but if its a huge offer.. its gonna ****k our salary up and then they will go after josh smith and we wont have the money to match..

Not if we offer Smith a contract first, then match Iggy.. I mean we have a week to match any offer.

a team can go over the salary cap to sign their own players that's why they want to sign smith first before iggy and williams.

I'm not worried about this, Iggy has already said he dosen't wanna leave Philly. I believe him.

Same, i think Iggy is happy on the sixers and doesn't want to go to GS

If there's any thing I'd trust Ed with, it's making deals and maximizing his money.

Theres no way Iggy leaves IMO. I dont care if they get Smith (well I do), but Iggy isnt going to GS.

Update from a source:

The Warriors are in a tight bind. From a PR standpoint they have failed in this offseason.. big time. Losing Baron for nothing, and losing out on Gilbert and Elton, who they publicly threw the bank at to try and acquire. That is why they are being so cautious with Iggy.

Now in the Iguodala situation, they are going to wait until they see what we do with Smith. They are going to do that because if we do not make Smith an offer, then it will be easy just to match the offer GSW will offer Iggy. But if we do make Smith an offer, they hope that the money will become a factor, and we'll S&T him (in which Marco Bennelli will be available). They really want Iguodala or Maggette.

I hope Ed has his thinking cap on.

I love iggy.

Sixerlover
07-03-2008, 10:14 PM
And Mullin says that he is willing to give Iggy max. Partly because of his talent, partly because of the fit he'd be next to Ellis, and partly the PR of getting a FA this offseason.

AirJordanXVIII

Max for iGgy is ridiculous.. That would just be bad management on the GS part.

I mean Iggy is good player and all, but max? Cmon.

dude the way i look at it is, if iggy wants to leave let him leave. If he has no love for philly and their fans, i have no love for him.

SeoulBeatz

lol iggy wants to be here, dont worry.

but if u look at it from a business/life standpoint.

Im sure if all of us were looking between 11 mill from Philly, to a 20 mill offer from GS (which is rediculous) ud take the 20 mill. Dont deny it, u would.

we're only human and theres a BIG diff between 11 mill and 20 mill.

I wouldnt blame him for leaving if the difference is that much, but it would kill me inside.

dude i would but if iggy ever left i wouldnt no what i would do.

The Max for Iggy isn't 20 mil a year BTW, it varies. His Max is a contract starting at about 14 or 15 if I'm not mistaken.

oh thank god.... thats still too much for iggy.

but thats a little bit of a relief.

Cus cant we go over the cap to resign our own players?

i mean i dunno if stefanksi wants to pay 14 mill for iggy but i would cus he is the heart and soul of this team.

BADizzleBoY
07-03-2008, 10:43 PM
Why would they offer that to iggy, unless ed stefanski has a trick up his sleeve, maybe they are planing a S&T. I think he is gonna make a big trade.

Golden state is going to do something, they will land either Magette, Iggy, or Smith...they have to much cap room to sit on their hands.

It's just not going to happen. If we sign Smith then Iggy definitally wouldn't leave because with him and Smith we would be contenders..
Let's face it, there are around 7 teams better then GS right now, and alot are up and coming (Trailblazers, Clippers, etc.), so I doubt he takes the extra mils and plays for them

They can wait to sign Monta. Same as what we can do with Smith. We wait, they sign for the available cap space, then we maneuver our own players.

i wonder what iggy's thoughts will be if we give smith a big contract (bigger than iggy's).. since he thinks of himself as the leader of the team.. i hope that doesnt get to him..

as long as his is close to smiths..i don't think it has to be more!

If Iggy wants the team to get better, and desires less pressure as the #1 option..I don't see what the big deal is...Ed needs to offer the same package he did before ..Philly needs help. Iggy is aware of this and I think he has the kind of character who will take one for the team.

BADizzleBoY

I am telling you guys..... ed has a trick up his sleeve. He will somehow get smith and I think he will make a S&T. And get jones in free agency.

FNM BOY
07-04-2008, 11:24 AM
^^I agree badizzleboy...Ed will get something done....with Josh Smith situation I think they are aware of the Hawks cap woes....thus they will make Smith an offer that will absolutely hurt their pockets. They (ATL) wont let Smith walk for nothin So i think we will have the advantage to force them into a sign and trade..possibly Jason Smith and Willie Green and the Utah First Rounder...if that were to happen...it will set up a situation where will still be able to get a nice SG with cap spaced freed up from Willie Green etc.

BADizzleBoY
07-04-2008, 11:40 AM
yeah i'd rather get smith in a sign and trade and then maybe we could also have a shot at jones, or maybe okafor??

FNM BOY
07-04-2008, 11:52 AM
Yeah Golden St. has money...but its where Josh wants to be...does he really like life on the West Coast??....or does he prefer to stay close to home. Believe it or not all these things factor into decisions i'm not worried.

They also see Bibby's contract ending after this season, and Joe Johnson's ending next year. They have some flexibility after this year, once Bibby's huge-*** contract is gone.

^^Yeah we know...you don't want Josh here so will find every way to try and find a way to discourage the hopeful situation....by the way when will we know how the Cap space will be this year??? I sure do hope it works more in our favor..the more the merrier

Yeah, the same reason they want Josh Smith. Rumor has it that the Warriors want Smith more than Iggy. They can basically frontload any contract they offer to the max. Which is poop.

It's like why would the Celtics want Maggette?

I can see Maggette sliptting time with Ray and PP.
