The New York Rangers have traded defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forwards Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche.

I'm not too surprised with Tyutin getting traded. He really hasn't progressed much since coming into the league in 2004. He's probably gotten worse. And Backman wasn't going to last long here either.

I don't know much about the guys they got for them, but I assume Zherdev is the key. He was the 4th overall pick in 2003, so he must have plenty of talent and is still only 23. He scored 26 goals last year. The other guy seems like a throw in.

As for the defense, we have Rosi and Stall, Redden and Girardi set. I'm hoping they bring Mara back and then maybe fill the last spot with one of the kids at Hartford.

^^ To the Columbus Blue Jackets
I think the Rangers win this for sure.
Backman is AWFUL.
So Tyutin for Zherdev and Fritsche is really good, Zherdev is the man.

Wow. Don't know how the Rangers got Zherdev. He's a stud. And put him on a line with Gomez and combine their rediculous speed....and you got 40 goals out of him. And Fritsche is no throw in either. Solid young player.
