BC mustve had a talk with him before inking him to a deal. adams is what they call a "specialist". adams has all the skills to excell in perimeter defense (something we sorely lack) and getting into the paint (something our players refuse to do). if adams just focuses on consistantly slashing and driving to the rim as well as his defense, he can be solid. he is hungry and tough enough to play a role on this team.

He should work on his shots too. It'll make him even more dangerous on the open floor. He could pull up for an easy 'j' or fly high and dunk.

I could see him becoming this years moon. A guy who will slowly win time and popularity with his exciting play. If he can play good perimetre defense I could see him being a good part of our swingmen.

By midseason:

SG-Parker/Adams
SF-Moon/Kapono

or

SG Adams/Parker
SF Kapono/Moon

This way we get a jumpshooter at one positon and an athletic guy who can play good d1 at the other. I would still like to see us get a real above average wing man.

some reading on mr. adams

draftexpress.com

"The statline may not indicate it, but this was not a very good game for Adams. As he has shown the tendency to do in the past, Adams played most of this game out of his element, hoisting up ill-advised jumpers rather than taking the ball to the hole. He pulled up for mid-range jumpers on repeated occasions, missing the majority of them. Some of them were off-balanced, others early in the shot clock, others at the expense of giving the ball to the open man. He even took three three-pointers despite the fact he should know by now that heís a horrible three-point shooter at 27% on the year. When he was actually taking the ball into the lane, he did pretty well, as he usually does. But Adams spent most of the game fooling around with his shot, hurting his team because of it."

"Strengths
Adams is a pure physical specimen. He has tremendous athleticism, highlighted by his outstanding leaping ability, to go along with a very strong frame, which he knows how to use. He also possesses excellent length. He has a very explosive first step and has that same explosiveness on his leap. He runs the floor very well, is pretty coordinated, and plays with a good level of fluidity.

Slashing is definitely Adamsí best weapon, where he makes great use of his strength and quickness to create high-percentage shots in the lane. He is very creative with the ball and is certainly not afraid of contact. When Adams wants to, he can usually get to the hole with one or two short, but powerful dribbles. He uses his explosive first step to blow past his man, then with his combination of strength, creativity, and leaping ability, finishes very well at the rim. His strength allows him to maintain good balance even after contact, helping to ensure a high-percentage shot attempt. He utilizes a hop-step move especially well to make use of his explosiveness once in the lane.

Adams also has a pretty decent mid-range game when spotting up with his feet set. He hits these mid-range shots with a pretty good frequency, which in turn helps open up his slashing opportunities. He also moves pretty well without the ball, putting himself in good position for either a mid-range shot or a drive to the basket once he gets the ball.

Adams is at his best in the open floor, where he can really make use of his athleticism for some tenacious finishes. He frequently gets out in transition to put himself in position for easy baskets.

Defensively, Adams has all the tools a swingman could ever need. He has good lateral quickness, length, reflexes, and strength. He can lockdown an opponent when he really wants to. He plays very aggressively on defense, especially when picking at the ball using his great hands. He gets a lot of steals this way, as well as by anticipating and reacting in the passing lanes.

Adams is also a very good rebounder for his position. He makes it a priority to attack the boards on both ends of the court, especially offensively. His strength and athleticism benefit him here greatly."

Actually....Great minds don't think alike .....But yeah I agree completly...I like that overall were becoming a way tougher team with all the additions...With Jermaine starting and assuie Shaq backing up....Boston finished first in every defence catagory...and they won a championship...Defence wins championships....So the Raptors movement defence is huge....And are offence wil improve right away with Calderon at the helm....Peace

This is what excites me the most. He has the lateral quickness we need so badly. I think this was a genious move for BC and the management team.

Sam Mitchell should tell him every game...

You can't take a jump shot until you've driven to the hole at least 3 times. And don't take a 3 unless no one is within 100 km of you.lol

lmao that just reminded me..we should make rules.. in LA..Phil Jackson has a rule if any of his big men attempt a 3 pointer and missed he would fine them 100 dollars..maybe Smitch could make some kind of rule for our players with the exception of BArgnani and Kapono =P

in his limited action last season, he did shot a high FG%... AND, i know that was mostly around the basket cause his shot isn't that good... i guess it's a cheap version of what we need... and for all those people advocating Duhon... take a look at his FG% and 3FG% for the career... he stinks, year by year...

They are currently trying to bring Delfino back - they have sent him an offer sheet. If he bolts because Europe is offering him more than there is not much we can do except offer more money which could be better spent elsewhere.

I like this pick up it definitely wasn't on my radar of athletic slashing wingmen to acquire but what excites me the most is his ability to defend the perimeter. Last year one of our biggest problems on defense was allowing too much dribble penetration which was compounded by the lack of a shot-block presence. Both of those issues are now addressed and hopefully we will see a significant improvement on the defensive end and we will be able to get out into transition more often like we did two seasons ago.

I have a strong feeling Moon will fall out of the rotation next season, Jose didnt complement Moon as much as TJ did on the alley's, and fast break oppurnitities. I just hope Jose forgets about being so careful about the assist to TO ratio's and just throws the ball at the hoop every chance possible espeically with JO on our team now.

Im just saying, I wish they did more to ensure they keep him, I worry 2.5 million aint enough. he was our best bench player last season IMO.

You can add Parker and Calderon to your list, they made some pretty big threes last year..
Adams seems like a steal at what, $400k? I remember him playing well against us, going after every rebound. Still think we're a bit small at SF. I guess if there's a size mismatch against some teams they'll put Bargs in at the 3-spot.

Posey has proved he can hit the open 3

Adams has to prove he can hit an open 15 footer

I got it from NBA.com site, yea I noticed that too, CB looked bigger then I noticed he was clenching his right fist.

Also check out Howard, LBJ, Redd, Kidd and Kobe, it seems that all of them are looking at CB, LOL.

Dude, I am not thinking of Posey's offensive skills, I am thinking of his defense. We already have Kapono so I dont think BC signed him to shoot threes, I think he was signed to be that lock down perimeter defender..... just like Posey.

Sounds like the guy has potential and as long as he doesnt take wild shots he could earn himself some PT. If there's anyone who doesn't have patience for players who screw around and don't do there job it's Smitch.
