What's the going rate for a backup center who averaged 2.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks a game last season? If you're DeSagana Diop, it could be a great year to be on the market. It's slim pickings for free-agent centers, and if all those Chris Paul-to-Tyson Chandler alley-oop dunks in the first round of the playoffs suggested anything, it's that the Mavs, after including Diop in the February trade to New Jersey for Jason Kidd, are in dire need of interior defense. Those factors could more than double Diop's $2.2 million salary and net him the Mavs' entire mid-level exception, expected to be valued between $5.5 million and $5.7 million. The Mavs will have competition for the 7-foot, 26-year-old Diop. The Miami Heat is reportedly interested.

Diop could be the starting C. He is an upgrade from Blount for sure.

IF Miami lands Brand in a sign and trade, then my money is on Diop signing with the Heat. As we would presumably be in a better position than the Mavs...However, I have my skepticisms about either landing here. As it stands now, I see it as about a 75-90% chance he goes back to Dallas. As for Kwame...ehh, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I guess if lose out on other key free agents, and he was willing to take a one or two year deal, then okay. I just don't want another Smush Parker situation...you guys do know his contract is hitting against our cap this year...Laker fans tried to warn us...

NO. Chalmers is our long term starter... include Cook... he will never play significant minutes for us as long as we have wade...

Marion/Haslem/Cook for Brand/Jordan... they might do...

I wouldn't...I'd do Marion and a second for Brand, but not Chalmers over Jordan. I'm not saying Jordan won't develope, but it's going to take about five years. I think Chalmers can contribute right away and be a solid starting point in this league by year three...He is already much more expierienced than just about every guard drafted this year. I'm just not sold on Jordan. Sure he has lots of potential, but that doesn't always constitute success. I'm sure there will be a lot of people who will disagree with me, but that's my opinion.

What about Patrick O'Bryant???

He's never done ANYTHING. At least Kwame has proven that he can be a serviceable big man... O Bryant has done shhhhhh.... But I wouldn't mind giving him a shot I guess...

Diop is very good defensively, however it's obvious he's going to Dallas.

I would rather have Kwame Brown than Diop. He is younger better on offense and cheaper than Diop. I mean 2.9 points 5.0 rebs.

OMG Jordans sucks why would you want a guy that shots 30% from the free throw line, Cant make a Basket if his life depended on it, and is self Centered please i rather have Blount then Jordan. Only thing i like jordan is for his shot blocking.
