MLE will be used to sign Ukic, Jawai, and other bench filler, there is no other money for any other deals. Wishing does not make it so.

A question about the cap in regards to this. I was under the impression that the MLE is for players where rights are not owned by the team. Aren't Jawai and Ukic considered part of the team? I assumed it would be just Adams that takes from the MLE. Please correct my here.

I have a feeling the raptors will not fill out all 15 spots on the roster, or if they do it might be with developing overseas players like ukic and that nawaii guy.

Ukic and Jawai are going to be on the opening night roster. No doubts.

New Jersey

“If we brought back the same group, it wouldn’t give us the opportunity to be the kind of team we wanted to be. We still have a lot of players, a lot of young players who will need time. But it gives us the opportunity and flexibility to accomplish what we want to accomplish.”

In the last four months, Jefferson and Jason Kidd have become ex-Nets, and the team isn’t done adding and subtracting.

Reports circulated that the Nets also considered moving Vince Carter for cap flexibility

Other moves seem to be coming. The Nets still need a backup shooting guard. They likely will continue to shop Marcus Williams, see if they can include Keith Van Horn in a trade and try to utilize some of their other assets — a $3.3 million trade exception

Whatever they do, the summer of 2010 will be in their thoughts.

http://www.northjersey.com/sports/ne...p_front.h tml

The Nets have only $36 million earmarked toward player salaries that summer, and the removal of Carter's four-year contract would cut that in half.

Toronto Trades

Anthony Parker
Salary: $4,350,000 Years Remaining: 2 (temporary replacement for Carter)

Jason Kapono
Salary: $5,356,000 Years Remaining: 3

Carlos Delfino
Salary: $2,722,913 Years Remaining: 1 (he'll be bought out)

Joey Graham
Salary: $1,596,600 Years Remaining: 2

Total $14,025,513

With garbajosa's buyout were allowed 4 mil on amnesty (Kieth Van Horns contract in trade).

Nets Trade

Vince Carter
Salary: $14,724,125 Years Remaining: 4 (moved for cap space 2010)

Marcus Williams
Salary: $1,262,520 Years Remaining: 1

Keith Van Horn
Salary: $3,792,112 Years Remaining: 2

Total $19,778,757

Nets have a 3.3 mil trade exception.

There's no limit to the amount of players signed to the league minimum.

Rasho hopefully resigned in wink wink deal with Indy for league minimum

Sign Michel Finley to league minimum

Jawai & Ukic signed using the rookie exception

Adams signed for league minimum

? is who to use the full MLE on with this lineup we would need a player who can play SG/SF

Guard/Forward
James Posey
Devin Brown
Jarvis Hayes
Matt Barnes
Dorrell Wright(S&T)
Royal Ivey
Bonzi Wells
J.R Smith
Maggette
Pietrus
Gomes

O'Neal/Rasho:pray:/Jawai
Bosh/Bargs/Humphries
(5.5 mil)/Moon/Finley
Carter/(5.5 mil)/Adams/KVH
Calderon/Williams/Ukic

The players I would consider for full MLE

O'Neal
Bosh
Carter
(Smith/Wells/Pietrus/Maggette)
Calderon

Silver.

I like Brandon Bass from the bigs. Also Kurt Thomas could be a good veteran and big body presence for us.

We don't have a wing player who can put the ball on the floor & penetrate

Moon - can't drible
Joey - no
Parker - he's the most succesfull of the bunch but still is lacking

We need that dimension to our game to be succesfull.

Vince is able to penetrate, create for himself & he is available for cap space along with a backup PG in Marcus Williams.

People may not like Carter but he makes sense and is the best available talent for us because he would only require expirings to obtain.

Why not? I bet if we got Vince and started winning alot of people would change their opinion of him .
