How is this different than what happened in Houston with Chacon?

Sounds like that travelling secretary deserved it. Manny should be able to beat on anyone he wants.

It wasn't his boss. And Manny is real good.

and Chacon threw his GM down by his neck and kept pushing him down when he tried to get up.

either way it should not have happened but think if A-Rod did it they would not release him same with any teams best player... and a person who deasl with tickets is a far cry from the gm

Well if a big name player did what Chacon did the team would downplay it as much as possible.

Because pushing down the team GM is a lot different than pushing down the team traveling secretary...

The Difference???

Chacon was getting demoted and possibly cut anyway
he was not smacking 30 homers and 100 rbis a year and going to another all star game for the 1st place team in the AL east

A-rod's a Yankee, if he did this 90% of the forum would be going crazy *****ing and trashing the yankees.

How is it different?

Because its Manny Ramirez, not Shawn Chacon. Im pretty sure one is a future Hall of Famer, the other is just an average pitcher.

It's not the same as Chacon, but it's still pretty pathetic. I don't care whom it is, or who the player is, physical assault shouldn't be happening when so many little kids watch the game and can be so easily shaped by their heros. He should get some sort of penalty. To be honest, I kind of hope someone from the Yankees pulls this stunt, just to see a thread bashing the hell out of them, calling them classless and the whole 9 yards. Manny being Manny my asscrack, it's bad for baseball.

I'm so sick and tired of "Manny being Manny" being an excuse for stupid stunts.

He takes a leak in the Green Monster. Okay, that's funny and quirky. Manny being Manny.

He high fives a fan on a play and then guns someone down. I thought that was awesome. Manny being Manny.

But people give it as an excuse for whenever he pisses and moans about something to the press, etc.

And now "Manny being Manny" is a valid excuse for violent, borderline psychotic behavior? He threw someone to the ground over tickets to one of 162 games. For crying out loud, that's ludicrous.

By the way, this guy was in his mid-60's. Manny threw an old man to the ground. What a class act.
