Who will win the rookie of the year award.. Rose??? Beasley??? Mayo??? Oden??? Yes Greg Oden hasn't played a game yet in the NBA so technically he is still a rookie... Personally I think it will be Derek Rose..

I truly think it will be oden. 16-12-2 blocks 4 assists. Twin towers always have more assists.

Beasley won't be easy to beat though. 18-8-1 block 3 assists. Beasley is Larry Johnson all over again.

Rose will share too much time and scoring duties to win. 14-3 reb - 5 assists .5 steals. Rose will probably be my favorite player from this draft.

Greg Oden for sure.

Beasley want that big of an impact with Wade and Marion on the team and Rose will probably be benched for a little bit.

I say Mayo or Beasley who we know will score.

ODEN....hes got a GREAT team around him.. Aldrige already a big time PF, Roy is and Allstar, Bayless is going to be excellent, I Say ODEN

i have no clue. but i'll say Mayo

06-27-2008, 02:52 PM
greg oden will get hurt again, im calling it.

beasley will get 16/8/2

rose will get 13/4/7

Whichever team is more successful will win it, probably rose b/c the bulls have more depth, which is good for the team as well as potential deals.

remember, the bulls are a 45-50 win team that just had a fluke last year.

my guess is the bulls win 46 this year, heat win 42

Derrick Rose will be the ROY IMO.

Oden......

Yes he can still win it.....

There's some players that gets picked 2 or 3 years back that can still win it, aslong as they haven't played a single NBA game.....

Like Mark Gasol, he can win roy even if he was pick earlier.....

ight for those of you that dont know, Greg oden is still eligible for rookie of the year since had to sit out his rookie season but will still be considered a rookie because he has not played a NBA game yet. This was mentioned during the draft last night by one of the analyst. So i say greg oden

NOT D-Rose 4sure. It's close between Micheal Beasley or Greg Oden. Oden had the comparrison 2 Duncan. Beasley has the comparrison 2 Melo. ROY of the year is close between those 2.

Beasley.

06-27-2008, 03:46 PM
I was about to say Oden but he has a lot of talent around him that he might have to defer to at first like Aldridge and Roy. Then I was about to say Beasley but he's going to have to adjust to the nba game and being a second or third option on a team with Wade & Marion. So now I think Rose simply because he's going to have to do more on a team that has less talent than both Portland & Miami making his numbers a little bit better than Oden & Beasely.

Or DeShawn Stevenson will go back in time to when he was a rookie, in which case he would easily win ROTY

Beasley i think as the 3rd option on what is a good team if wade is healthy wont have a chance cause he wont score enough points cause he wont get the touches

Love as the big man on the grizz mightve had a shot but not in Minny

its gotta be between Rose, Oden and Mayo for me...im a little concerned about the amount of touches that Oden gets but Mayo is gonna get the chances to score alot of points which count for alot...the Bulls i think deal Hinrich and get Rose 30+ minutes a night at least giving him the best shot at it cause hell be running what looks to be a playoff team

Rose is my early pick with Mayo as the sleeper

06-27-2008, 04:28 PM
None of the point guards will be winning it, so that eliminates Rose, Augustin, Westbrook, Bayless, etc. I consider Mayo a SG, so he has a shot. Love won't get too many shot opportunities with Al Jefferson with him on the front court, since Jefferson will be getting the ball. Beasley is an obvious favorite. Joe Alexander is one of the best players in this draft, but is blocked by Richard Jefferson. I am going to go with Beasley.

Oden or Mayo.

Oden is on a very talented team, so I don't expect him to have spectacular numbers.

Mayo will have a 20 PPG season on the Grizzlies IMO.

Beasley, Rose should be the better player eventually but it will take longer for him to fully develop at point guard. Beasley should step in and put up double digits nearly every game. That said I think Rose has an outside shot if the bulls record is very impressive.

I'm hoping that it is Rose because I am a big fan of him and the Bulls, but I think it goes to kids usually placed in situations where they have to dominate and be much more of a leader in terms of scoring and everything on their team. I'm going to go with O.J Mayo for that fact because we all know Memphis is going to suck it up once again, and the fact of the matter is, other then Rudy Gay, there is pretty much no consistent offensive threat out to help Mayo. Plus, I'm betting that defenses will be centered on stopping Gay more often than not, freeing up even more opportunities for Mayo. As for Rose's case, he has a lot of help from the Bulls in terms of scoring and that sort of thing (depending on the Bulls offseason activities, signing Deng, Gordon, trading Hinrich and what not). And though he is probably going to be a big and intrical part of the Bulls system this upcoming year, I just think when it comes down to it, Mayo will have better scoring averages and stats because of the dire straights he is put right into in Memphis.

I want O.J. Mayo to win it, but Memphis is basically a team of guards, and I doubt he's gonna get major minutes. If he shows that he can dominate an NBA game though, that would be a different story altogether.

I think it'll come down to Rose, Beasley, or Oden.

vince wilfort
06-27-2008, 10:29 PM
No one in this draft screams "star" when you hear about them unlike Oden. He looks like the frontrunner now. If not, it will probably be Beasley since swingmen adjust rather quickly to the NBA (if he's mostly used as a SF).

Strumpy
06-27-2008, 10:46 PM
I'm going out on a limb and say Eric Gordon. Livingston and Maggette are leaving, so it looks like Gordon will get significant playing time. He will become the new face of that franchise.

If Brand stays I doubt that Eric Gordon will have the assignment of carrying the scoring load.

NYMetros
06-27-2008, 11:08 PM
Rose won't be starting right away. Beasley's impact on the Heat won't be great right away because Marion and Wade will be taking a mjority of the shots. Oden has a very good chance at it, but my guy is OJ Mayo. I think he is going to be the best player out of this draft. The Grizzlies don't really have anyone who can score other than Rudy Gay, so Mayo will probably start right away and have the ball in his hands a good portion of the time.

With Wade and Marion being the main scoring options for that team, I doubt that Beasley would have the chance to perform as well as Durant did for the Sonics.

Beasley or Oden...both their teams will see huge improvement from last year and both will receive a lot of the credit. I think Miami will have the bigger turn-around and I think Beasley will put up better numbers so I'll go with him.
