Who do you think has the sweetest swing?

brandonwarne52
06-09-2008, 08:41 PM
Homer pick but a good one:

Joe Mauer.

Everyone will say Griffey, but I think Edmonds has the best swing in all of baseball. I loooooove watching him hit...and field for that matter. He is basically Ken Griffey Jr. light...not as much power, but perhaps a better fielder...and just as sweet of a swing.

Kenny

Better question is, who has the sweetest right handed swing.

xander
06-09-2008, 08:45 PM
Griffey's swing is arousing :no homo:

It's probably the only swing that I can compare to Barry Bonds.

Manny Ramirez, I'd say.

Griffey. But I do love Chase Utley's too.

Griffey... no question. I'd have to put Utley 2nd.

CarniifeX

EW! I can't stand Utley's swing. But Junior for sure. As for a righty, probably Manny.

Homer pick- Dustin Pedroia

Other pick-I hate the player, but swing is nice, Arod.

Homer pick- Dustin Pedroia

Pedroia has a vicious swing. Not sure if it is the "sweetest", but it is fun to watch. His bat speed is ridiculous...Gary Sheffield Jr.

After all these years, Griffey still has one of the most balanced and pretty swings in all of baseball.

My homer pick is Abreu...he doesn't get mentioned in this discussion but it's balanced and damn pretty IMO.

Manny, Griffey, someone mentioned Edmunds thats a good call.

I wouldn't say his swing is "sweet" though...its pretty damn choppy.

Cano has a beautiful swing, the only thing that ****s up his hitting is his timing, and thats half the battle.

Degz

RH-Burrell

Yeah... I forgot about Burrell. He can make swinging and missing at a slider low and away the most beautiful thing. :)

Barry Bonds had a sugar sweet swing in his prime.

Chipper's left handed swing is so sweet, its just so quick and smooth through the zone. Ryan Church is another really smooth left handed swing.

When he's on, right handed Justin Upton just has such a short, sweet stroke. When his swing is level he could hit a ball that didn't get over 25 feet in the air but still managed to hit the base of the wall.

Troy Glaus and Shawn Green were always the two guys that come to mind when I think of sweet swings of players in their prime.

Barry Bonds has the shortest and most compact swing I have ever seen. Without putting him into the picture, his swing should deffinitely be taught to players who are learning the game at any age. Another one I LOVE that hasn't been said yet is Pujols. Him and Manny have such great motion with their swings that it allows them to pull or hit the ball anywhere with relative ease. Weird that the 2 players I chose also have the two highest OPS+ numbers in the last 20 years.

Griffey from the left side of the plate hands down. He makes a single look sweet.

A-Rod from the right side. He makes opposite field hits look almost as good as when he pulls the ball.

GrkGawdofWalkz

Kevin Youkilis, and Jim Rice for me. Mays had a sweet swing too.

TopShelf

I like Lyle Overbays (somewhat biased) as I enjoy a true left handed swing the most.

Cullksinikers

Mr. 600 Ken Griffey Jr. Imagine if he wasn't injury prone, he'd def. be the home run king.

Junior Griffey, but damn is Utley's swing butter...

Manny Ramirez is the most balanced hitter in the league.

Watch his swing, its amazing.

i'm suprised at the lack of love for garret atkins from the right side. pretty right handed swing. todd helton in his prime would have to be considered one of the top 5-10 pure hitters in the games history

What is a 'pure hitter'?

All batting average? I mean seriously, what the ****? I hear Ichiro called a 'pure hitter'. Is 'pure hitter' to 'overall hitting' what being 'gritty' is to being an overall 'great player'?

But Junior has a really pretty long swing.

nice swing, nice hitter - top 5 or 10? yes in Coors history easily, in history of the game? pleeaassssseee...

for six years his average was as follows

.344 ba 37 hr 121 rbi .441 OBP

on a really bad colorado team. he is a career .330 hitter and power numbers have dropped with age like their supposed to.

i'll always think of him up there with the best in the history of the game when it comes to the ability to hit major league pitching

i like your style but i knew everyone was gonna say griffey, but adam dunn has a biiiigggg likeable swing, whoever said pedroia needs to get me some of what they ae smoking, even high i would say he swings awfully w/ his eyes closed and gets lucky, and hes not good anymore this year. He was good as a rookie at the plate, kinda clueless lost cause in the field still
