Lin is a native of Taiwan, signed by the Sox after receiving bigger offers from other teams. Signed for $400,000. Very experienced in international play.

Defense: Right Handed CF, Lin has great range and a strong and accurate arm for CF, should stick there as he moves up the organizational ladder.

At the plate: Lin is a right handed hitter, with great contact ability and gap power. Uses the whole field well. Surprised many with a .190 ISOp in Rookie Ball. Trouble with breaking balls early in his pro career.

On the bases: When he was signed, scouts claimed he had Olympic sprinter speed, although he didn't show it in the states. Good base running instincts, should get better as he gets more experience.

Opened the 2008 season in Low A at age 19.

Lin goes 2/5 with a homer (his first) and his third double of the season. Showing the good power he showed last year, but has yet to take a walk. I imagine this is one of the things he'll have to improve before he gets moved up. Got rave reviews in a SoxProspects.com interview with Drive pitcher Chris Province. He said it looks like Lin is on rollerskates in the outfield because of all the ground he covers. Balls he feels sure are going to drop fall safely into the glove of Lin.

Lin was selected to join the "World" team for the 2008 Futures Game. More on Lin's selection in the Greenville News (http://m.greenvilleonline.com/news.jsp?key=97914&rc=sp&p=1).
