We can use this to discuss draft time.

Any time after about 115 or 130 on Monday works for me.(I have a class ending at 1250 about 15 minutes from my place) Tuesday's it'd have to be later in the night like maybe 930 or 10ish, and Wednesday's don't work at all for me unless the draft were to not start until 11. Thursdays work anytime after around 7ish, and Friday's work anytime after 1pm.

How about Tuesday? I have class during those times.

Waiting a while to get this one started this year, huh?

I've already got drafts scheduled at the following times (all times Central)....

12th - 7:00pm
15th - 1:00pm
18th - 7:00pm
22nd - 1:00pm

So anything that would overlap with those times would be bad. Other than that, I should be pretty flexible.

All of you must restructure your schedules in order to accommodate me!

Probably, but it seems like the league had been established for a couple weeks before we drafted.

I wasn't even sure if this league was coming back.

Personally, I'd prefer a Sunday Night draft.
Otherwise anytime after 8:30 p.m. central should be ok.

bah. screw your school and work. I am in the middle of producing a damned movie.

ultimately, the weekend would be much better than anything else. But if need be, we could maybe do it next week? maybe sometime in the late evening? alternately, if we are going to do it during the day, I need plenty of advance notice, so I can block the time out on my schedule. some time next week would be ideal.

Man....Having a 10 team draft the day after a 16 team draft would be a shock the system.

I'd like to have this draft before my others if all possible, because the smaller size of this league leads itself to be a warmup of sorts.

I know there was truth behind it, which is why I thought your "sarcasm meter" comment was kind of stupid.

Nothing is up my butt. It's just annoying to have someone *****ing about a league they don't have to be in. I wanted to start it earlier, but have been incredibly busy.

Sundays are good for me too.

During the week I have class early til about 1:00, but then I go to work at 3:00, so it'd be tough to do it during the week for me.

Also, do we have the league info yet or are we waiting to figure out the draft time first?

Will it be on CBS Sportsline again?

Available times on that day are:

10 AM ET

11:30 AM ET

The later the better. The 10 ET would be best. Sunday afternoons are usually the worst time for me, but Sunday nights should be fine.

With only 10 teams and fairly small rosters (if I remember right), the draft should go pretty quick.

I personally have no idea when I'll be home as I suspect I will have family obligations, so later is better for me, 8:30 ET at the earliest, 10 would be better, unless the lot of you are up for a 8 AM draft.

I was looking at that. Seems kinda cool.

One big question : Can you pick the same player more than once during the same streak?

I used to play in a HR Survivor league years and years ago which was kinda similar, and a good bit of fun. You pick your guy, and he's got a week to hit a HR (we played Monday-Sunday). If he does, you advance, if he doesn't you're out. The catch was once you picked a guy, you couldn't pick him again for the rest of the season.

Select a Player Each Day
Each day during the season, you can select one player from the list of that day’s active players. There is no limit on how many times you can select a player throughout the season – if you want to ride the hot streak of one player, or choose a new hitter each day, it is all up to you. Keep in mind that you are simply trying to get a “hit” of any kind; a single is just as valuable as a home run.

So I just finished my first draft of the season. I knew going into it that I was unprepared, but I didn't realize how unprepared I was. Things got ugly quick.

The scoring is very similar to this league, which is most of the reason why I'm posting it in here. But there are a few fairly important differences :

For Hitters -- SB = 2 points, CS = -2....H = 1, BB = 1, HBP = 1, K = -1.....SF = 1, GIDP = -1, E = -1.

For Pitchers -- W and S = 10, L and BS = -5....Out = 1 (or IP = 3)....ER= -1, BB = -1, H = -1, WP = -1, K = 1.

Also, there's 12 teams instead of just 10. And we have larger rosters (25) than in this CBS league. So pickings get much slimmer.

(K) indicates keeper

C Mike Napoli
1B Prince Fielder (K)
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Ryan Braun (K)
SS Michael Young
IF Derrek Lee (K)
OF Torii Hunter
OF Ken Griffey Jr.
OF Kosuke Fukudome
Util Paul Konerko

BN Melky Cabrera
BN Orlando Hudson
BN Mike Cameron
BN Mark DeRosa (1B,2B,3B,OF)

SP Brandon Webb (K)
SP Tim Lincecum (K)
RP Francisco Rodríguez (K)
RP Kevin Gregg
P Rich Hill
P Dustin McGowan
P Tim Hudson

BN Mark Prior
BN Gil Meche
BN Andrew Miller
BN Brandon Lyon

I really like my rotation, and my RP should be good enough to hold it's own. I'm not much of a fan of my offense at all.

However, I am a fan of the division breakdown, because I'm the only playoff team from last year in my division. I love cakewalks.
I think I picked #2 last year, I like 10 a bit better. 2 of the first 11 instead of 2 of the first 20.

I understand where you're coming from here, but that's only partially accurate.

I definitely prefer Yahoo's overall layout and their ability for customization, but there's also something to be said for free live scoring (although in a league that only allows weekly roster moves, that loses a little something.)

You can see the draft order by going into the draft room.....duh.

I'm not talking about the way it looks, I'm talking about the scoring systems.

In all of their free leagues, you can choose up to 15 different categories for hitters and 15 for pitchers from a list of probably 40+ stats. That's real customization, not just dragging the little boxes around. Yahoo is FAR superior to CBS overall. The only thing CBS has going for it is the free live scoring.

I do think that it's likely you can get more overall talent from the 10th and 11th picks than you can from the 1st and 20th.

There was a time that the last spot was one of my favorite positions to draft from, but I've changed my mind on that recently. I've come to like the middle positions more, or at least more than I used to.

I just don't like going that long between picks, especially in larger leagues where there could be 26-30 picks between yours. It can force you to reach a little early for a guy, even though you know you shouldn't.

That I can agree with, but I'm not terribly worried about it.

In the MLB Redraft we're 20th overall, which means we picked 20th, 40th, 80th, 100th, 140th, and so on. It can sometimes be 3 or 4 days between picks.

Comparatively the picks here will go by quickly.

I personally like being able to grab two guys I want at once. It lets me react to draft trends differently than I would if I always had to wait 10 or so picks to go again.

That's definitely the upside to an end pick. You can usually avoid runs on a specific position, and sometimes you can even start one.

ARod shouldn't have 0 like it shows right now, he should have 3 since he had a 2B and RBI.

Normally I wouldn't care too much, but my game w/Kirel is pretty close right now, so 3 points could be a big deal. If Vernon Wells would have done anything then I'd really be mad.

I was up by about 30 points until yesterday and then you just had about 70-80 points out of the blue thanks to Peavy and Johnson mostly.

If I were playing anyone else in the league except Wrigs, I'd have won comfortably (scored the 3rd most points in the leauge, but you scored the most and Wrigs had 1 more than me). Oh well though, I feel pretty good about my team's chances from here on out.

Rollins out for the rest of the week with a death in the family. Borowski is having tricep trouble. J.J. Putz is injured, and Prince Fielder is ice cold.

Why can't I just have one clean week?

That's all the points I want to score on Sunday. That would make my final score in this week's victory 420, and I would like the symmetry of scoring 420 points on 4/20.

And somehow I'm only 2nd in the power rankings, even though I'm in 1st place overall (having scored a couple more points than Kirel).

Just the nature of h2h leagues.

I'm getting destroyed in my 16 team roto h2h league (27-38-5, 14th place), even though in a straight roto league I'd have 107 points of a possible 224. I mean, having the 2nd best season WHIP in that league at 1.22 would be worth 15 points, and very nice. However, I've got a 2-3 record in that category in the weekly matchups.

I think I'd likely be around the 5th-8th range (I'm not about to go through and calculate everyone's place in those hypothetical standings, but I think that's a reasonable guess).

The power rankings appears to be partially scored based on who you lost against. Reading the help it appears that the breakdown is determined by how well you'd have done if you'd played those teams all season, where I have the second best record fo 30-15-0.

Not sure what the hell that means or why it's in the power rankings.

One thing that I really should have researched earlier then the draft. I am in two other CBS fantasy teams. Both with the same rules. I didn't get a good chance to review the scoring. I faulty assumed saves were 5 points. Plus I didn't realize you could have any combo of pitchers. So i didn't put an emphasis on closers. In my other leagues it's 4 SP's and 2 RP's. This is just 6 pitchers. Oh well, i'll know for next year, unless WB says i'm to much like RWB and don't partcipate enough and kicks me out.

Yeah, that's why he was booted.

And BMD, yeah saves are worth a lot, but there are a lot of different philosophies that go with it. YNH goes with a lot of closers. I myself draft starters early and go with as many starters as possible, and 1 closer.

In my other league, I stumbled upon Wood and Lyon as free agents to go along with Saito. So I have 3 closers, and have no idea how to deal with it because I've never used that approach before.

I like 2-3 good closers with 3-4 good starters, plus whatever 2 starters are available from my pitching deep bench. Peavy, Harang, Lincecum and whatever 2 starters I can find has been what I've done to this point, but with Bucholz on the DL, Sanchez and Snell weak, and Scherazer probably out of the rotation next week, I'll be going 3 closers.

I'd not have minded playing someone with a less banner week. I was obviously going to lose this time around, but it didn't have to be a 130 point margin.

I lost 3 starters and a catcher this last week. Here's hoping Peavy doesn't end up on the DL long term.
