Andrew Bynum's injury could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the Lakers, provided he shows no ill effects when he returns in March. . . .

If Bynum hadn't damaged a knee in a Jan. 13 victory over Pau Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies, General Manager Mitch Kupchak has acknowledged, the Lakers would not have pursued Gasol in a trade. . . .

Blessing in disguise really. Plus credit the Warriors getting CWebb before the Lakers can get him as well.

Acually the Lakers passed on webber because he didn't want the 10 day contract.

What a moron. If you have a chance to get a past all star for trash you have to do it no matter who is hurt.

I don't understand why he would say that? It is as if he wasn't trying to improve the team.

Exactly. I hope he didnt think that team could win a championship. He should have been on the phone all year. It makes it seem like Kobe was right when he said the front office did not want to do anything to improve the team.

So then technically, Bynum is the reason the west is getting old, although Stack killed the deal for Kidd to Dallas when he said he was going back to Dallas in 30 days publicly. Kidd is screwed

Go Dodgers!

im not sure that kidd is really screwed ive read numerous reports that the kidd deal will get done one way or another with either george eventually accepting the trade or as an alternative doing a sign and trade with keith van horn replacing the devean george contract.

I think this was obvious.

Still no quote from Mitch saying it would have not happened. Memphis wanted to cut salary, Lakers needed a big name, this deal would have still happened because of all the stuff Kobe said in the offseason that year.

You know that Jerry Crow doesn't cover the Lakers right? He just writes a whole bunch of stuff in regards to all the sports teams in LA, but wouldn't be considered a credible source.

They might have been trying to get him before that.

I think the trade would still be put in place I would hope Mitch wouldn't pass it up when Kobe started to show his feelings on the direction of the team. But I guess will never know unless Mitch says so.
