We've decided to have a forum dedicated to the 2008 race for the White House.

We ask that you please respect other people's political views and focus on issues and candidates rather than generalizations about the forum users and those being discussed. This is an exciting time with much to discuss, so let's make it a forum for good and respectable debate rather than one of flaming.

Good looking out on the new forum. I ain't gonna post much in here cause I obviously don't know as much about the candidates as the american posters in here but I will sure read most of the threads on this section to see what is being said.

Great. Now instead of intelligent conversations, the GD forum can be filled with rants about dishwashers and colonus cancer.

But in all honesty, this isn't a bad idea. more organized.

Hey guys, any additions you think should be added let us know! Either PM me, or post in here. We want to make this a popular forum, one that possibly last past the election, so give us some feedback.

Maybe have a Democrat and Republican Thread and just sticky them. That might be a good idea for people to debate the candidates in their own party and just talk about issues and stuff.

This may be an idea once the candidates are chosen.

There should be a sticky thread called "What's the most important issue to you."

Democrats, Republicans and Independent's can all post what's on their mind as the most important issue to them.

I think we should have a certain amount of individuals representing each political party. Sort of like a PSD Congress.

After watching the show on hbo about the accused voter fraud it realy makes me wonder why i even vote. The show realy made me sick. Evrything was filmed and its crazy what they found. They actualy hacked a memory card from one of the voter machines which was suppose to be unhackable. They took the hacked card to a voting station in Florida and performed a sample election which was done by the people who ran the polls. They came up with a sample question which was can this machine be hacked. 8 people voted 6 said no 2 said yes. When the tally came up ir read 7 and 1. Right in front of the people who just voted. One of the people who ran the polls was crying.....I realy cant believe what i just saw. The guy they hired to examine the memory card,,,which is suppose to be empty just like a ballot box , said there was all kind of programs on it that served no purpose except to alter the card. You realy should watch this.

You're talking about "Hacking Democracy" I'm assuming. It was certainly interesting ... and they brought up a lot of valid arguments. I'd like to see them played out, challenged, and analyzed further before I come to a conclusion on what it means though, first.

I want to know who is going to be able to walk into a voting station and manipulate the machine though -- it's just not possible in an election setting. It sounds as though the flaws could come from the software engineers.

Just a reminder:

-Don't create new threads that only have the intention of baiting, flaming, inciting angry reactions, or personally attacking other PSD members.

-In your posts, please stay respectful to other posters even if you disagree with them. This forum is for debating and discussing issues, and not for you to take your politically charged emotions out on other posters here.

-All regular PSD rules apply - no baiting, flaming, trolling, disruptive behavior or insulting other members will be tolerated.

-Failure to abide by the above will result in infractions and bans.

Sorry I'm not around today, guys. Very busy day for me and I only have a few minutes to check in.

But I would just like to make a sort of PSA here...

While of course it is true that only we U.S. citizens have the right to vote in these elections and determine their outcome, every single PSD member, regardless of nationality or location of residence, is perfectly free to participate in the discussions in this forum, provided that - as is true for everybody - they abide by the site and election forum rules.

Please don't try to make people feel unwelcome here. It's not your place to do so. Thank you.

I figure this is the best place for this. Just saw a recap of Gore talking about McCain and he said something to the fact that McCain wants to continue the Bush policies. He said he is all for recycling but that was a bit ridiculous. Now I don't really care for Gore but that was a very funny line.

Didnt know where else to ask, and didnt want to make a thread.
Does anyone know where I can get daily polls? In our AP Gov class we are devoting 10 minutes a day out of the 50 minute period to stay tuned with the campaigns and I cant find a site to get daily polls from.
