Lebrons game last night ( 39, 13, 14) had me wondering so I did alittle browsing on BBR's stat search, I limited it the 30+Pts games, because to me those are the greatest, and I found some pretty insane games.

Highest Rebounding Triple-Double Games
22: Webber, Anthony Mason, Lever (The guy puts J Kidds rebounding to shame)
21: Rodman (I never though he could score 10 points)
20: KG, Larry Johnson, Fat Lever
19: Odom, Webber, Walker, Barkley, Thorpe, Fat Lever

Highest Assisting Triple-Double Games
23: Fat Lever (HES EVERYWHERE), Jamaal Tinsley
20: Rod Strickland, Magic, Fat Lever
19: Magic (x3), Tim Hardaway
18: Magic (x4), Kidd(x2), Chris Paul, Rod, Kevin Johnson

If your wondering why Oscar or Wilt are nowhere to be found, its because the search is limited to games starting from 1986, if anyone knows of any triple double games from anyone not on the list add them. D-Rob and Hakeems quadruple-doubles should be common knowledge by now but I left them out because thats just unfair to the rest of the triple doubles.

Wilt stat line Feb 2nd 1968: 22 points, 25 rebounds, 21 assists.

And for the younger poster above me, Fat Lever is one of the most underrated point guards of the 1980s.

One of the best rebounding guards, I'm pretty sure he lead the league in triple doubles for a few seasons.

A triple-double thread and no mention of Oscar Robertson?

In the 1961-62 NBA season, Robertson wrote NBA history. In that season, he became the only player in NBA history to average a triple-double for the entire season, averaging 30.8 points, 11.4 assists and 12.5 rebounds per game.

These numbers are not as high as some of the others, but to do that on a daily basis is unbelievable. You would think he scored close to 10 points to accomplish that, but he scored over 30. Just wow.

I'd have to say 20/20/20 or 30/15/15 must be the best ones.

I'd remove the losses from that triple double list: not that they weren't impressive, but you have to win to consider the individual accomplishment even greater.

Not the one from Sir Charles... .750 fg%, 3 steals shy of the quadruple-double, 4 blocks for the icing on top... I don't care if they lost that game, that is an astounding individual performance.

I agree, but he lost that game. The basic purpose of the game is winning, not individual accomplishment, but that's just my opinion :)

has anyone ever had a triple double with steals and blocks?

Closest was Hakeem in 87, and he had 7 steals and 12 blocks. Sick game considering he was 4 assists and 3 steals away from a quintuple-double! :speechless:

pts 38
reb 17
ast 6
stl 7
blk 12

That's a pretty crazy game, and one of the best triple-double performances on paper (havent really seen many older games as I am not that old).

has anyone ever had a triple double with steals and blocks?

Not many players have had more than 10+ steals in a game. So it would be very unlikely to also have 10 blocks.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/STL_game.html

The best ever is only 11 steals and 10 with 10 steals.

I wish AK could get a quad double once in his career, he was pretty close with 14 pts, 8 reb, 9 ast, 7 blk and 6 stls. That goes to double OT and he has a good chance of getting it.

1990 Hakeem Olajuwon 29 pts 18 rbs 10 asts 12 bks 05 stls

That is probably the closest to a quintuple double.

5x5s are also pretty cool

This says it all about Charles Barkley "Greatest Most Complete Powerforward Ever":

34 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assits, 7 steals and 4 blocks. All this shooting at 75% from the FG.

That is as closest as you can get to a five-douple double.

Barkley only player in the court that could play both "Small and Big"

Put a Player in a Center`s Body, Playing Powerforward with the Skill of the Greatest Smal Forwards and the Speed, Court Vision and Ball Handling Skills of a Guard. And remember all this, playing Powerforward not at 6.9 but at 6.4 and 5/8 of an inch

3 things

1. way to bump a thread

2. Your wrong about CB34 being the best. Most talented debateable but not the best

3. Wilt's 20/20/20 scares the **** out of me

Oscar Robertson's first 5 years in the league (PTS-REB-AST)

30.5 - 10.1 - 9.7
30.8 - 12.5 - 11.4
28.3 - 10.4 - 9.5
31.4 - 9.9 - 11.0
30.4 - 9.0 - 11.5

Not only was he the only guy to average a triple-double for a season, but if he had added half an assist or a rebound here or there, he could've averaged 30-10-10 for 5 straight years... craziness....

Not really as crazy as you think, obviously a great achievement but one that looks less godly when you account for pace. Lebron's current season measure up to any of Big O's triple double seasons. And thanks for bumping this, Ive forgotten all about it
