Any body else caught the fever? All you need is 2 players/team and some sort of back drop to be the strike zone. We use a wheelbarrel tipped against a fence because it makes a loud "bang" every strike, eliminating all debate of ball vs. strike and also furthering the humiliation of those who go down looking.

Of course you also need the bat and ball, official only. No imitators. Yellow bat, if you have a large playing area you can jack the bat up by wrapping it in electric tape to increase the distance the ball will travel.

There are no bases. Bases are for pussys. Mark out the distances that certain types of hits (1B, 2B, 3B, HR) will travel and put a "ghostie" at the appropriate base. Also mark out three or four feet to each side of the pitcher. Any hit wide of there on the ground is a groundout, and anything through on the ground is a single.

I throw the riser, curve, slider and an innovated sinker. Since the official rules of whiffle ball dictate that it is not where the pitch crosses the plate (since there is no plate) but where it hits the backdrop, I try my best to have the ball break after it passes the batter, so the pitch is essentially unhittable. Experiment with combinations of hole location and release to come up with stuff. Its all about catching wind into the holes.

If you attend an accredited university, I would hope that you have held tournaments, since it can also be played in a state of innebriation and requires no running. It also lends itself to massive smack talk, which is hilarious considering the game was originally intended for children.

I used to play whiffle ball with all the kids in my neighborhood back in the day. We would play all summer, that and football.

Those pitches aren't hard to throw at all, in fact the one on that video is pretty easy. Hold the ball with the holes facing away from your body so if you are a righty, the holes are all facing directly to your right. Throw across your body, like a 3/4 arm angle where your hand winds up by your left thigh. If you aim at the strike zone the ball will probably be about 5 feet outside, so aim about a foot behind your opponent's *** (if they're a righty) and it should curve into the zone.

I often will start a count with it because its an easy way to get a first pitch strike, since its unhittable the first time you see it in a count. I wouldn't recommend throwing it too often, though because good hitters will start to turn on it before it breaks.

I havent played if a few years consistently, every once in a while my little brother and me play but nothing serious. I almost never gave up hits because i could aim my fastball really well and the distance between homeplate and the pitchers mound was just too close. Also i threw a curveball that i could make work on lefties and righties.

I use them sometimes but I prefer the official ones. The Junk balls do move a ton though, anyone can pitch with those.

I play a lot. My friend turned his front yard into a field and we hit bombs over the street onto the neighbors yard. They have a hedge which obviously acts as a fence. We taped out foul lines. We use a piece of wood for the Strike Zone. I agree wiffle ball is the most fun, most intense game I've ever played.

Only thing is we have to use black bats. There is no way we could hit with the yellow bats. It would be a perfect game every time for both teams. Most our games end up 3-2 or something like that. We have anywhere from 2-4 on a team.

I don't know if this would be considered a professional league but every summer I would play on a wiffle ball team with my Dad up at our cottage. I must say that it is one of the things I look forward to every year and unfortunately I couldn't go up this year because of work.

We have a bunch of people along our river who play and it's really competitive. Last summer there were 8 teams including us (The River Rats) The people on our team lived up there so they'd play from start to finish and whenever my Dad and I went up we'd get to play. I pitched for my team and I'll be honest. I had no clue how to grip the ball but when I threw it there was some crazy movement on it.

I remember 2 summers ago we made it to the semis and our neighbor from across the river Bill hit a walkoff shot to send us into the finals where we would be savagely beaten. The team we faced actually practiced and maybe even played in a real league (I don't know) but facing this pitcher was tougher than facing a real baseball pitcher.

If you cover the holes on the whiffle ball with duct tape, the ball travels further and you can throw it faster too.

I loved playing whiffle ball until I was told I wasn't playing it the correct way by the purist. I played it more like traditional baseball with a 2-4 man team with everyone running the base paths. I found that to be more fun than the homerun derby style that seems to be the rules in play.
