It was a tough loss and Bird stinks and so does Stanton. Looking at the games, I was expecting a Yankees win and a Red Sox loss, but the Red Rox pitcher drives in 3 runs off Scherzer and our sluggers go 0 for 11 with men in scoring position, but that's why you play them. Possibly one of the worst results of the season.

I don’t think he gets that you’re making fun of his grammar.

Agreed on all. We need Gary back soon.

And Bird annoys me. Austin was more fun. But Bird fields very well.

Hate is such a strong word. I think we are all frustrated by Bird. We expected big things this season considering the taste we got last season and earlier in his brief career. Our memory can't be that short or impaired.

You may recall he finished the year by cracking eight homers in final 14 games, with an .891 OPS, and added three postseason homers with a .938 OPS as the Yanks made it to within a game of the World Series.

Since Statcast started tracking in 2015, more than 75 percent of all Bird's extra-base hits have had exit velocities of 95-plus mph and launch angles of 8-50 degrees. If you're hitting a lot of balls that hit those marks, you're likely to have success, and that's exactly what Bird did to close out the year.

Bird's rate of hard-hit air balls from August through the end of the postseason was the second-highest out of 344 Major League hitters with at least 50 batted balls in that time span. The only player with a higher rate was Judge. That's good company to keep.

I have been a huge Bird fan, but I admit he hasn't lived up to expectations. We are all getting frustrated by performance considering the potential. Hate is such a strong word.

Hicks is proving that last yr wasn't a fluke, gotta give Cashman alot of credit for recognizing talent and getting it so cheaply
