Yikes. Just because Romo turned out to be a good color commentator doesn't mean any former player will.

If I were him I'd take that gig though. It won't be available next year.

Hmm maybe should have gone with a pass catcher on round 1.

Good for him tho he should definitely jump on this. Not sure he’d strike me as someone who will be nearly as successful as Romo in the booth.

Witten might have him in straight away speed, but hurdles... we know who's king. lmao

Dang, good for Witten though. I'm also glad it's kind of screwing the Cowboys over a little how late he's announcing this and during the draft no less haha. It's just business, right?

I mean as a Cowboys fan it's not cool, but what goes around comes around eventually. We will have to see what their confidence in Rico Gathers is now.

He was a great player in his prime and should be a definitely HOF’er. As a Cowboys fan I will say though that we will finally be able to see if the young TE’s on the roster have anything. Witten was great but was a total progress stopper for any young TE in Dallas.

If I was the Cowboys I would be looking to move up to draft Dallas Goedert.

Supposedly almost no one at the Cowboys knew he was going to retire. Potentially waited for the last minute to basically screw them for what they did to Dez.

Had just gotten a restructure bonus in March.
    First 4 years:
    Brown - 54 GP, 27 GS, 261 catches (63.3%) for 3,561 yds (8.6 AVG), 15 TD
    Landry - 64 GP, 57 GS, 400 catches (70.2%) for 4,038 yds (10.1 AVG), 22 TD

Huh. Wonder why Landry is getting paid so much...

"Hater" is a term used by weak minded people in the face of legitimate criticism.

Yea I seriously doubt he retired now to screw the Cowboys for what they did to Dez. Especially considering he was one of the “Garrett guys” that spearheaded Dez being cut.

From everything that is being reported the Cowboys knew there was a chance that he might retire because he had the audition for MNF but Jerry didn’t think he would actually retire yet. The truth is also likely that even Witten didn’t expect to be offered the job. When he was offered the job he jumped all over it (as he should!). Does it put the Cowboys in a bind? Somewhat it does however he did it before the 2nd round which still allows the team to draft a replacement. If he had retired after the draft knowing he was already going to retire, that would have screwed the Cowboys over. The fact that he did it now tells me he’s actually trying to help them.
