I've been away for a while and when I have been home, I've been exceedingly busy. Being the mayor of a small town has its drawbacks.
Anyway, tonight the franchise had a sweep. Rochester won 9-1 over Syracuse. The lone Chiefs' run was on an old friend -- Matt Hague's -- solo homer. Aaron Slegers (4-1, 2.28) got the win allowing a run on 3 hits, a walk and 1 K in 6 innings. He might be the next guy up to the bigs if one of the starters falters or goes on the DL. Ryan LaMarre doubled twice and tripled, scoring 3 and driving in 4 in 5 ABs. Taylor Featherston was 3/3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Zack Granite was 3/6 with a pair of runs scored.
Chattanooga beat Tennessee 11-3 with Randy LaBlanc (6-1, 2.14) giving up a run on 7 hits, a walk and 4 Ks in 6 innings to get the win. Brent Rooker was 3/4 with a run scored and 4 driven in. Chris Paul hit a 2-run homer in 4 ABs.
Ft Myers was supposed to play a pair, but only got their 1-0 win in over Jupiter. Jimmy Kerrigan hit a solo homer for all the runs. Sean Poppen (1-2, 2.70) allowed 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in 5 innings to pick up the win. Andrew Vasquez (0.78) allowed a hit, a walk and 2 Ks in 2 innings to earn his 3rd save.
Cedar Rapids beat Quad Cities 5-4 with Alex Kirilloff going 3/4 with a triple, a homer, 3 scored and 2 driven in. Jovani Moran (1-1, 2.76) gave up a couple of hits, walked 2 and struck out 4 in 2 innings of relief to get the win for the Kernels.
Pretty good night from the top down, with Berrios pitching well again for the big club.

Tonight wasn't as good as last night for the Twins franchise.
Rochester won over Tommy Milone and the Syracuse Chiefs 6-4. Milone only lasted .1 innings with the Red Wings getting to him for 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. Dietrich Enns (2-4, 5.20) was the recipient of this offense, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, 2 walks and 4 Ks in 5 innings. Luke Bard still has not allowed an earned run, giving up a hit and 2 walks in 2 innings to pick up a hold. Nick Anderson (1.56) picked up his 1st save with a strike out in 1 inning. Jake Cave was 2/4 with a double, a triple, a run scored and 2 driven in. Nick Buss was 1/4 with a 2-run double.
Chattanooga beat Tennessee 8-6 with Tyler Jay (1-0, 1.46) picking up the win in relief. He gave up 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Sam Clay (6.00) picked up his first save with 2 innings, 1 run, 4 hits and 1 K. Brent Rooker was 2/3 with a homer and 2 runs scored. La Monte Wade was 2/5 with a run scored and 2 driven in.
Ft Myers lost a pair to Jupiter 4-3 and 3-2. Taylor Grzelakowski was 1/4 with a solo homer in game 1.
Cedar Rapids lost a pair 6-2 and 8-4. Royce Lewis was 0/4 in the double header.
    2-4 for the farm.

I must apologize for my lack of activity lately, but professional licenses come first. I am re-licensed now so I will be around a bit more often.
Last night, Rochester carried the ball for the franchise, getting the only win for the farm teams 3-1 over Norfolk. Nick Gordon is in Rochester now and is hitting .333 for them. He was 3/5 last night with a double and an RBI. Jake Cave and Chris Carter were each 1/4 with solo homers to account for the other runs. Adalberto Mejia (1-1, 4.24) picked up the win with 6 strong innings. He allowed a run on 5 hits, a walk and 4 Ks. Trevor May (6.59) finished the game, allowing a hit, a walk and 1 K to pick up his 1st save.
Chattanooga lost 6-4 to Brimingham with Brent Rooker going 3/5 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI. Brian Navarreto was 2/4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Sean Miller was 1/3 with 2 runs scored. Anthony Marzi (0-3, 6.46) took the loss, giving up 6 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits, a walk and 4 Ks in 4 innings.
Ft Myers lost a double header to St Lucie 3-2 and 6-3. In game 1, Luis Arraez was 2/4 with a run scored and Travis Blankenhorn was 2/4 with a double and 1 driven in. Tom Hackimer (0-1, 2.84) gave up a run on 4 hits, 3 walks and 4 Ks in 3 innings to take the loss.
In game 2, Taylor Grelakowski was 3/4 with a solo homer. Mark Contreras was 1/3 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Alex Robinson (0-1, 4.05) took the loss giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, a walk and 1 K in 1 inning of relief.
Cedar Rapids lost 4-3 in 10 innings to Burlington with Alex Kirilloff going 3/5 with a double, a homer and 2 scored. Akil Badoo was 2/5 with a homer. Jose Miranda was 2/3 with a double and an RBI. Royce Lewis was 0/5, dropping his BA to .307. Calvin Fauchner (1-1,0.00) was the victim of the runner at 2b to start extra inning games giving up an unearned run on 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 Ks in 1.2 innings.
    1-4 for the farm.

The DSL Twins started their season on June 2 and have gone 1-1 in their first 2 games. They lost the opener 15-5 to the Cardinals, giving up 14 runs in the first 2 innings. In game 2, they beat the Cardinals 15-4, scoring 8 runs in the first and keeping the Cardinals' bats at bay the rest of the way. Game 1 saw the Twins pitchers allow 13 hits and 12 walks while they struck out 10. Game 2 saw them allow 7 hits, 3 walks and strike out 10 more. The fielding is as expected for this level with the Twins committing 5 errors in the first 2 games. Today, they are tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 9th with the Yankees, having committed another couple of errors. The starter, Osiris German walked 1 and struck out 7 in 4 hittless innings, so he might be a guy to watch this season.

The DSL Twins have won their game today and are 4-2 on the young season. I don't really pay a whole lot of attention to the stats, as they are 16 and 17 year old kids. We won't know what we have with them for at least 4 years.
The rest of the farm system will play later today.

The GCL Twins opened their season with a 7-5 comeback win over the GCL Orioles. SS Yeltsin Encarnacion was 3/4 with a double, a triple, 3 scored and 1 driven in.
Just for the record, my girlfriend's 2nd cousin Jake Holmes is playing for the GCL Phillies. They drafted him as a SS and he moved to 3B. He was 2/5 with a double and a run scored in their win over the Yankees West team.

Buxton is currently 1/7 in his rehab with Rochester and Sano is 2/8 with Ft Myers. If Sano can get his conditioning back in a couple of weeks, he'll be back. Buxton is just working on his agility and defense. He does not need to get hot at the plate to come back up.

E'ton and the GCL Twins have each opened the season 2-0 and the DSL Twins are 13-4. Not really excited about the records, but the kids look like they can play a little bit.

Hey cayman, thanks for the updates. What do you think of the international signing the twins made? Urbina plays outfield I believe.

Urbina is very young -- 16 -- and may develop into a very good player. I would suppose he will start with the DSL Twins and possibly play a couple of years there. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does there.
6'0", 175. I would think he can run a bit and will have adequate power. Defense is not likely going to be as advanced as his bat for now, so that is what he will need to work on.
