Signed through 2023 but also 3 team option years to take it through 2026
#35 overall prospect. Unsure of $.
He looks like a guy who will have a lengthy, productive career but wow.

Only the 2nd guy ever to sign a longterm deal before making a major league debut, the other was Jon Singleton. Seems like an odd move, least let him play some in the bigs before you give him a long deal. I know it has a bunch of team options just seems odd.
I wish we could sign Bo Bichette and Vlad Guerrero to contracts like that.
The contract includes a $1.5MM signing bonus, per Gelb, who also has the yearly breakdown. Kingery will earn $750K this year, $1.25MM in 2019, $1.5MM in 2020, $4MM in 2021, $6MM in 2022 and $8MM in 2023. Additionally, there’s a $1MM buyout with the options.
As a Phil’s fan. I like the deal
If he is a bust, is just 24 million, which is a lot, but still nothing that would **** a team long term.
If he becomes good, then it’s a ****ing steal!
I can see more teams and players doing this, it benefits both really. A kid gets life changing money without even having to prove himself in the majors and a team could keep him for a lot more time and not lose him at age 26-27.

Yeah I can see deals like these becoming the regular

If he's really gonna play all over the diamond then he's kind of invaluable and will easily be worth the $
The potential for major surplus value is high AF
Options are for 13m, 14m, 15m = 42m
Pretty well constructed. That's like what Cozart got in FA and what Neil Walker reportedly turned down a year ago.
koldjerky loves this over Pizza Rolls & Cheesesteaks.

This seems like a bad deal for Kingery. You want a guy who is willing to bet on himself a little more than this. Especially in this environment where no one wants to pay a 31 year old. Should keep the Phils from playing games with delaying his big league time.
They already are fairly regular.
It certainly benefits the teams because even if you get a situation like Jose Tabata or Jon Singleton, the team doesn't suffer.
I'm not sure how these deals really benefit the players, since their trading their entire prime for little-guaranteed money.
