Considering we already signed Bruce, Iím okay with this move. Canít possibly hurt to have more depth/insurance in case things go awry.

Well, Smith won't sit on the major league bench all year, Flores is now the 2bman pending another deal (in which case he will sit on the bench except vs. left handed pitching) and Jay Bruce will be the RF. Nimmo and Lagares the CF duo for now. Smith will likely be at AAA this year/

I'm trying to wrap my head around it. I like A-Gon as a player. Does anyone know, can he still provide gold glove caliber defense? I like that he's a patient hitter with power. I'm just surprised assuming its a major league deal that a roster spot on an already crowded infield with at least 6 players that can play 1B

    Smith 1B
    Rivera 2B, 1B, 3B
    Cabrera 2B, SS, 3B
    Reyes 3B, SS, 2B
    Flores 3B, 1B, 2B, SS
    Gonzalez 1B
    Bruce RF, 1B
    Plawecki C, 1B

Not a huge fan of this signing but if he can prove that he's healthy and can bounce back, his .350 OBP will be welcomed to this lineup with open arms.

Smith will probably be in AAA now. My guess is they bring back Reyes for a league minimum type deal as a utility player while Flores gets the 2B job.

I hope it is an invite and not guaranteed. He isn't the same player anymore

Sure, I can see DW at 3B and A-gon at 1B.

    Talk about a budget move....yikes!

I honestly do not see a negative in this signing

Smith clearly showed that heís not ready. He needs more time in AAA.

I don't see this blocking Smith. He'll still be the opening day 1st baseman. This is a just in case signing if Smith gets hurt or isn't performing into May.
