He got less than I expected.
heres the rotoworld
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that Jay Bruce will sign with the Mets, with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reporting it'll be a three-year, $39-million dollar deal.
Rosenthal reports the deal is pending a physical. Bruce came over to the Mets in a deadline deal with the Reds in 2016, and then left New York for Cleveland when the Mets fell out of contention last summer. The outfielder will turn 31 in April, and posted an .832 OPS with 36 homers and 101 RBI for the Indians and New York last season. He'll be an everyday player for the Mets again 2018 -- probably in right field -- and will likely hit in the middle of the New York order.

Or, "probably at 1B". Where he plays depends on Dom Smith.

I honestly think this is a very fair deal overall.

Thats a lot less than the 5 years 80 million he was rumored to be looking for. As a Giants fan i definitely would have taken him on that contract. Giants must feel confident they can get Cutch bc Bruce is someone they should have signed at that rate.

i have hated bruce for a while now.... i dont see the hype esp considering he will only get older and worse and already isnt very good.
Really shocked at this, but like Trumbo's deal last year, the money isn't there like it used to be for veterans, especially veterans who fit the 1B/COF profile. I'm also shocked that the Orioles weren't in on Bruce for this price, because we need another corner outfielder, and a left-handed bat. This is a very good deal financially, and really surprised more teams weren't in on him.
It doesn't happen often, but the Mets both traded him away, and got him back.
The Mets get Ryder Ryan and Jay Bruce
But, it's Bruce for 3/$39 (which sounds fine to me)
Yeah, I don't see the appeal for him $ wise. This deal seems fine. He is a 115 wRC+ hitter. That's fine. But he doesn't offer much more. Getting him for 3 years make sense, even for the Mets. But that is plenty on it's own.
its a good deal compared to carlos santana who produces to the same level
