This is ESPN clickbait. The rule there is "Write a bogus story about the Patriots, suckers will believe it and watch the ratings come in".

ESPN made this all up. Wickersham is doing this on purpose you ****ing idiots. He's just trying to troll Pats fans. Don't believe what you read.

    Here's the article:

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page...power-struggle

TL;DR, Guerrero's influence in the locker room became too big and players would go to him instead of the training staff to gain trust in Brady. Kraft pushed Belichick to trade Jimmy G even though Brady's health has declined, giving less substance in the TB12 method. Brady's been frustrated this season and some other stuff. It seems real, but I'm not sure if it's going to kill the franchise.

The article practically says that Kraft forced Belichick to trade Garoppolo, according to anonymous sources of course. The second rounder was Belichick's offer and he chose to call the 49ers because of respect he has for Kyle Shanahan's father, while also thinking Jimmy G would excel in that system. It probably also was the quickest way to show everyone Kraft made a mistake.

There's a lot more stuff like trouble over Brady's quack doctor, or that staffers thought the Deflategate investigation was legit with Kraft only attacking it as a fan service; anyway I recommend reading it all.

Yeah, Belichick is renown for hanging on to old veteran players too long and having no succession plan in place...

Belichick is 65 years old. Bill Walsh was 63 when he moved from head coach to front office. He also presided over a successful transition from Montana (the GOAT QB at the time) to Young. I can't envision Belichick retiring to a front office position with Brady done and no QB to take over.

Unless Belichick manages to find another player of Garoppolo's caliber in the draft. He did get the 49ers' pick to try.

But yeah if that doesn't happen and Brady retires after 2-3 more season with nobody to take over at QB, this piece of ESPN FAKE NEWS will seem a lot more plausible.

None of this even matters lol. They'll probably win the Super Bowl.

    They won’t beat Pitt.

Cue “bdawk is a NE hater” posts while the “Bdawk is a pitt hater” minds are blown.

In October, he again explained to Kraft and Belichick his plans to play a few more years. The question was whether Brady had earned long-term security from the Patriots, or if he would finish his career somewhere else.
This part made me literally laugh out loud. Has Tom Brady earned long-term security after his MVP season? Hmm.

Mostly fluff. Pretty much all of the disagreements were well known. ESPN trying to get clicks on an article right before the playoffs. Shocker.

Having just completed the article, no part of it reads like sensationalist journalism. ESPN is certainly not without their faults but the vendetta that New England fans seem to think the network harbors against them teeters on tinfoil hat type stuff.

Everything in there reported is extremely believable, and reasonable. Garoppolo for only a second rounder didn't make sense to anyone at the time (whether Patriot fans want to outwardly acknowledge that or not, internally they were as puzzled as the rest of us) and this is a very, very plausible explanation for why it transpired the way it did.

I fully expect the Patriots to play in the Super Bowl this year and think they have an outstanding chance to win it. I don't expect the Patriots to win any Super Bowls for a long, long time after Brady retires, likely due to injury - sometime in the next 2 years or so.

Brady will turn 41 this year and they've got nothing behind him. I fully believe Brady believes he can play at an elite caliber into his mid 40's. I also fully believe, based on the collective history of human physical function, that realistically, he can't.

Belichick isn't a genius he's the genius in the realm of his craft. He orchestrated the perfect finale to his incredible saga, and Kraft threw it away seemingly due to little more than his and Brady's collective hubris.

You forgot the “if he wins it” or are we supposed to assume that’s what you meant, again?

The Article is BS. At least from the Jimmy G POV. ESPN is trying to create something with nothing about Guerrero.

1.Jimmy wanted out. He didn't care how much money he recieved, he wanted to start his career right now
2.BB traded Jimmy for the best value he could. No team was offering a 1st. And before anyone says the Browns, they didn't. I read somewhere that not only did the Browns not offer a first, but instead of 33rd pick they lowballed us by offering the 52nd.
