    Yankees pass on Cole.

Sources: The New York Yankees are working on a deal to acquire starting pitcher Gerrit Cole from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sides are talking, and while a final package has not come together, there is confidence. "A matter of when rather than if," one source said. The Yankees at this point are the likeliest destination for Gerrit Cole, but if that falls through, sources believe Pittsburgh is highly motivated to trade him. Likelihood Cole moves is very strong.

Maybe it's a 3 team trade with Ellsbury going to San Fran. Lol, imagine cash pulled that off? LoL

Well, considering you have him tied up in your basement, next to Arod. Shouldn't be a problem.

I fee itís safe to assume he wonít be. Cash seems pretty adamant on that.

yankees have always loved gerrit cole, and maybe they work a deal eventually. but still hearing of one big holdup: pirates want gleyber to headline package, yanks want frazier to headline it.

could be more about the positions than the players

A source told Yahoo's Jeff Passan that it's "a matter of when rather than if" the Yankees and Pirates come together on a deal for Gerrit Cole.

There haven't really been any reports of other suitors for Cole, which seems rather odd. The Yankees don't fit quite as well with the Pirates as other teams might, since they're believed to be offering around Clint Frazier and the Pirates have a bigger need in the infield. Still, the Yankees do have plenty of expendable talent, and if no one else steps up, a deal seems likely. If Frazier is involved in a Cole swap, one imagines an Andrew McCutchen trade wouldn't be far behind.

Source says Yankees-Pirates talks re: Gerrit Cole trade are "getting hot," though it's unclear whether a deal is imminent.

No chance they are getting Torres. I wouldn't worry about that.

Hearing Torres is indeed included in the deal. Cole better be worth it.

I have yet to see Cole pitch. Is he worth it? His stats don't look that impressive. With CC signed is he that big of a upgrade to lose these prospects for?
