Now they just need lots of pitching.

Great signing, I expected Cozart to get slightly more.

Defensively the Angels infield is starting to look really good. Offensively remains to be seen. I'm not ready to believe in Cozart's bat just yet and Kinsler needs to prove last season was just an off year. However, if those 2 come through offensively then they will have a damn good infield on both ends of the ball.

Good for the Angels. Amazing off-season for Eppler.

They aren't better than the Astros, but they are now the second best team in the West. And they didn't overpay Moose.

    This was a great move.

    player and WAR
    C - Maldonado - 2.0
    1B - Pujols/Cron - 1.0
    2B - Kinsler - 2.0
    SS - Simmons - 5.0
    3B - Cosart - 2.0
    LF - Upton - 2.0
    CF - Trout - 8.0
    RF - Calhoun - 2.0
    DH - Otani/misc - 1.0
Other depth players and bench - 1.0

26.0 positional player rWAR - last year it was 18.2

    Pitchers
    Richards - 2.0
    Ohtani - 2.0
    Shoemaker - 2.0
    Ramirez - 1.0
    Skaggs - 1.0
    Others - 1.0

    Pen - 5.0

    11.0 rWAR

That's 37.0 rWAR from these guys without asking for much in upside. That is an 85 win team, that should be able to add another starter still.

Ohtani is the unknown. Richards and Shoemaker need to throw 300 innings between the two of them, they could easily add another starter and reliever. But the lineup/bench are plenty good. They could also use another catcher (I feel like Wellington Castillo was the prize they missed out on with the rest of their off-season).

This could quickly be a wild card team.

2 war for Upton seems awfully low and I'm in record saying Upton will not live up to his deal.

The dodgers and angels don't do many trades, but the dodgers are looking to shed payroll, maybe they could work out a trade for Yasmani Grandal.

They have plenty of room under the cap, they should add one of the marquee pitchers preferably Darvish, it would help make Otani's transition smoother.

Why would the Angels want Grandal when they already have a freshly minted gold gloved catcher?

Seems like a real dirt cheap deal with what Sanata got, good job by them. Then again he put up career numbers in a walk year.
