I think this is a good signing for the Cubs, even though he will miss all of 2018.

I wonder if Bibbs has seen the news yet?

Jesse Rogers, who seems to be about the most plugged in guy right now to the Cubs stated the Cubs will "rehab him most of the 2018 season". I'd be surprised if he pitched that early according to his tweet.

I have lol. I talked about the Cubs taking a flier on him. Too bad I ended up taking it back. Good signing.

I don't think anyone knows what to expect from Smyly in 2018 including Smyly. But it sure would be nice to have him available for a deep playoff run.

Boring. Remind me of this when he can throw a meaningful pitch again.

I mean if he comes back next season (2019) and is really good then we have a super cheap stud at the price of paying a free year of him. And if hes not then we have an expiring and he gone. It's kinda a no lose situation.

I like the way the deal is structured. He will only make 3M in 2018 and in 2019 he'll be making 7M. So they're not paying him much in his rehab year.

Seems like more $$$ than these rehabbing guys usually get.

Think the front office learned from the Scott Baker 1yr guaranteed @ 5.5 mill rehab contract. Lets just hope this past years fascination with Tyson Ross is over.
