Mitchell has some nice upside as either a multi-inning reliever or starter but we have many better arms coming up. I'd rather have kept him but to clear $13M it's a fair price.

I calculated the Yankees had $14.7M to spend under the tax before this. I've seen reports say it was up around $20M. So after this deal, it should be somewhere between $27-33M left the Yankees have to spend under the tax.

Mitchell will be a cheap bullpen arm for their pen and Headley can maybe be flipped at the deadline for a mid-level prospect if they pay his salary and he's productive. Not sure there's much benefit overall for the Padres but it doesn't hurt them either

I heard on MLB radio that they are in talks to get Fulmer from the Tigers.

That would be amazing. They would also have plenty of money to replace hesdley with a better 3B. If they can get fulmer wonder if they would go after moose for 3B. They would theoretically have enough money to stay under tax.

If the Yankees unloaded the farm for Fulmer they'd have enough room under the tax to sign Moose for 3B.

    Rotation of:

    Sevy
    Tanaka
    Fulmer
    Gray
    Montgomery

    Lineup of:

    C Sanchez
    1B Bird
    2B Torres
    3B Moose
    SS Didi
    LF Gardner
    CF Hicks
    RF Judge
    DH Stanton

    Bullpen of:

    Chapman
    D-Rob
    Green
    Kahnle
    Betances
    Warren
    Schreve

    Bench of:

    OF Ellsbury
    IF Torreyes
    C Romine
1B/OF Tyler Austin or Billy McKinney
