Case Keenum Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month

I really hope we don't overpay him. We are getting rid of the last "overpay" we made at the position (Bradford trade) and if we give a major contract out it would feel like another mistake to me.

I actually really am impressed with how he has played and he's obviously worth more than we got him for. I would take him over Sam Bradford personally (and even joked about it pre season). His ability to move in the pocket and create time is a great aspect that I think separates him. I do want him back next year but not if he expects a major qb contract (those are like 20 mil plus). I would go up to ten and possibly more although I don't know our specific cap.

People have mentioned him as MVP type play and it seems to me are acting like today he had an excellent game. I don't want to pay him what it seems like some make him out to be is my worry I guess.

He is getting paid, his mvp play warrants it. I hope its us the pays him.

Kennum would never get that kinda dough, no matter how good he plays.

I think a contract similar to what mike glennon got, however, wouldnt be terrible.

4 years 84 million (2.5 years guaranteed) you would pull the trigger and sign Keenum? (21 mil per)

Ya I am with you but the first response again mentions MVP play and wanting to pay to keep him. Glennon did not get paid based off anything like what case is showing so if case truly wants to get paid (and someone just might, shirmur might get a spot and want him etc).

I would go double digits but not over 20 mil (which I think like half qbs make that or more).

i am surprised that no one is pointing out the similarities between case and curt warner both had an uneventful careers before their breakouts.in still going to believe that teddy will be tolled the vikings will have a ton of cap room this next off season .adding 25 mill plus between bradford and sharrif floyd. plus what ever else they have.as far as franchise tags no way do the vikings use the tag .niether teddy or sam are worth 26 mill a season.

Yeah i believe 20 is the “average” for new contracts on a starting qb. That would put him around the eli number. Id be more comfortable around tannehill if absolutely necessary (which is close to that at 19.25 mil a year). But if he gave us a super bowl ..... id pay that guy anything he damn well wanted lol

Still too much imo there probably but maybe not depending on space/needs etc. I think that Glennon range sounded like a good spot. Point is though he will for sure need to be on the back end of starting QB's (Glennon maybe around 20th?) and not in the top 10 range (or whatever MVP play warrants). As long as it is reasonable I say go for it but don't overrate him like some here seem to and overpay.

Unless that last part happens. If he wins us a super bowl then give him whatever lol.

Last I saw his market value was estimated around 15 million. That was a week or two ago. I would pay that. Once that figure gets into the 20s I'll be more iffy. Spending that much will guarantee we lose a position player. We won't be to afford big deals for Keenum, Diggs, Barr, and Hunter. Plus Waynes has his option coming up and will need a deal eventually. McKinnon, if resigned, is due for a pay raise.

Ya that's basically what I was thinking for him too, 15. I would obviously hope for a little discount but would go that high I'm pretty sure (again without fully looking into details). I wouldn't do more, 20 is a no from me.

Bradford and his bloated salary will come off the books, but I would like to pay Case around 15 mil. What do we do with Teddy?

I still think his sample size is too small to warrant 20 mil a year.

Yea but if Case demands a contract into the 20s then we basically just replace Bradfords deal with Keenum. If we give Keenum 15-20 million then Teddy is gone. It'll be an interesting decision. Keenum could potentially price himself out of Minnesota. I agree the sample size is too small to give him cash into the 20s. I don't think there's any way to keep both.

Man, I don't think Case gets anywhere near that, at least from Minny. That's no knock on Keenum, it's just reality.
    gotta love 'referential' treatment
