Eli Manning to be benched for Geno Smith

This is how the streak is ending. McAdoo should get fired right now before this catastrophic mistake happens. If the streak is gonna come to an end, let's see what Davis Webb can do. But no... instead the streak will end to give Geno Smith a start.

    This is a joke.

Ben McAdoo told Eli Manning he could continue to start, but Geno Smith and Davis Webb would get a shot to play. Manning declined: "My feeling is that if you are going to play the other guys, play them. Starting just to keep the streak going ... is pointless to me."
    Eli quit 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The Giants need to tank and fire Jerry Reese.

Eli's not the problem with your team.

    This is a ****ing disgrace.

Eli Manning has done more for this organization than anyone else on this team, front office or coaching staff combined. And he's far from the problem in 2017.

Do we really need this to happen for a lame duck GM and lame duck HC to see ****ing Geno Smith and Davis Webb?

And I'm all for Davis Webb getting a look. But this is just disgraceful.

    Don't worry. He's got this.

**** you McAdoo. **** you so much. And **** the FO in general for their oline failures.

    This is pathetic.

Really seems like a trade is coming this offseason if this is how theyre ending the streak.

    This is really really sad.

Itís the right move imo. At the end of the day you have to do whatís best for the team. Similar situation happen in SF with Montana. I love Eli and this one hurts. I hope Ben & Reese are fired but this is the right move

What's best for the team is firing ****ing Reese and McAdoo and treating the greatest QB the team has ever had with some respect.

You can let Davis Webb get some reps at the end of the season, and you can evaluate the future QB draft class with a new GM during the offseason. This is no way to handle Eli Manning.

It is so beneath the Giants I am besides myself right now. I can't believe the Maras are ok with JR and McaDoo doing Eli like this.

    Don't worry. He's got this.

I don't think there's anyone who doesn't love Eli, but we knew this was coming sooner or later. I mentioned this before, and I believe it even more now, that we'll be much more likely to see Webb playing if Ben knows somehow his job is safe and he's coming back next year. Otherwise I really can't see a reason for a guy in the hot seat feeling the need to start some roster evaluation process and bench a player that means so much to a franchise, being 2-9. How I feel about that, I'm not sure yet.

Sitting Eli is the right move. 5 meaningless games. You don't want him to get injured in a meaningless game. Playing Smith and Webb pretty much guarantees a strong draft pick for the G-Men. It's the right choice when the team is 2-9. No reason to risk an Eli injury.

"Coach McAdoo told me I could continue to start while Geno and Davis are given an opportunity to play," Manning said. "My feeling is that if you are going to play the other guys, play them. Starting just to keep the streak going and knowing you won't finish the game and have a chance to win it is pointless to me, and it tarnishes the streak. Like I always have, I will be ready to play if and when I am needed. I will help Geno and Davis prepare to play as well as they possibly can."

So why start Geno? He's not the future of the franchise. Start Webb and let him finish the season and see if he's the future.
