    Carlos Beltran retires

Thought it appropriate to wish Carlos Beltran all the best in his retirement. He was a great player for us for several years and should be remembered as the franchise's greatest CFer and the top free agent signing.

Anyone who chooses to recall one very unfortunate at bat must do so in its proper context.

I will throw out a question, though: How long until we sign another player who is as good or better than Carlos? I say at least a decade, maybe longer.

Anyway, all the best Carlos. You were great. HOF, anyone?

One of my favorite players ever, greatest FA signing by any Met GM ever. Great to see him go out a WS champion!

Will be a HOF, but sadly will not wear a Mets hat even though he had his best years here.

He was not only a great baseball player, but a great person who continues to do good for this world.

If not the Mets, the Royals?

Or will he go in with the Astros even though he barely spent time there.

He'll go in as a Royal but you could make the case as a Met too because he spent 6 years in KC and 6 years as a Met.

4th highest WAR all time for the Mets for positional players.

HoFamer and one of my all-time favorite Mets.

Best ever Mets CF. Patrolled the position with those easy, graceful, almost effortless-looking strides.

Carlos Beltran was the last position player to have played in the Kingdome. I believe Adrian Beltre is the last position player to have played in the 1990s now.

    Carlos Beltran retires

He had his best years in Ny and was here the same amount of time as KC he should go in with the Mets.
