Well Parsons is far from a star and a rookie isnt exactly a big drawn unless the rookie dominates year one. This trade would push back our ability to be strong players in free agency for 2 years in a row. It gives us 2 big contracts no one really wants Parsons and Deng. George wants to play for LA but not sure if comes to LA if we decide to take on another multi year bad contract. Maybe Lakers can trade the late 1 plus future first to part with Deng but Lakers would be stuck all season with Parsons and probably same next season as well.

    Ball
    George
    Ingram
    Kuzma
    Randle
    Bench Hart Porter Jr Zubac
Makes a strong team to grow
Next year Deng will be an expiring contract and I have faith they can use our ability to spend to continue to build
Kawhi is an amazing player but to have the big 3 we gut the future

You are still relying on George choosing to come to LA on a building team here. George wants to play for LA sure but this roster isnt competing for a title the next few seasons. This trade basically tells the league you are rebuilding and not completing for another 2 years. You may be able to trade Dengs contract but you still have Parsons 25M contract next season. Really puts the Lakers all in on development. If they all continue to develop and have several all stars develop out of that group that still puts you 2 years down the road and maybe competes for a title.

I would rather build with a bright future then contain your future to a 3 year window with the big 3
Boston is a prime example of stocking talent and competing in the immediate future

You can still have a big 3 along with a future. Leonard is 26 and the piece you build around for the future. Paul George isnt that old either. He is only 28. Lebron is 33 so you have a 3 year window of a guaranteed big 3 then you develop younger talent behind those 3. You can build to the future with a young core and maybe it works out but you can have a big 3 today and if you can draft guys like Kuzma in the later parts of round 1 then they can develop a guy like that again but this time with Leonard Lebron and George on your team.

I am glad that this guy is in charge and not us.
“This is why the Lakers basically turned basketball operations over to him…to get Laker worthy stars in there to really start to rebuild this thing.” – @TheSteinLine on Magic’s role on the Lakers – via Twitter

But I will say that Magic problably knows along with Pelinka who is for sure coming, except for Kawhi because like Pg last season it does not depend on them. Pop hates us and he will be sure he is gone somewhere else just like Indiana did, but what is key is to grab the two stars that are actually free agents, then next season go for another one of the several good ones. Our team with two super stars plus the young core along with some vet additions will fight for,the title just as good as Houston or Boston. Maybe not able to win it all, but Warriors will be working very hard to make three in a row and Lakers will push them really hard if Lerun and PG are around. Deng and maybe Randle gone to aloud one year rentals to come and support the main core and have a more balanced roster.
k Our hope for a big change.
