Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker will not return to the team next season, the organization announced Friday.

Smartest move the Nationals have ever made.

only in baseball you can make the playoffs as a manager and still get fired

First Farrell and now Dusty, and Joe G was rumored to either leave or be fired.

Not saying that they dont deserve to be fired, but its funny. Only in baseball

Dusty is a good player's coach but his in game managing is the reason why he's bounced around so much. 4 different teams he's taken to the playoffs and not one has made promised land.

If you want to make the playoffs, hire Dusty. If you want to win a championship, don't hire Dusty.

Some other inept front office will inexplicably hand this guy another job. It may be next off-season instead of this one, but it will undoubtely happen. Again.

    It boggles the mind.

^^^ I doubt it. Hes like 70, or close to it, and has not evolved with the game. I can't imagine he gets another job and an MLB Head Coach. The Nets had to make this move, they have arguable been the most talented team the last 3-4 years and have not gotten out of the first round once. I could coach that team to a pennant in that abysmal division.

Davey Johnson, Matt Williams, Dusty Baker...

It doesn't matter who the manager is. They've reached the postseason with three different managers. The players get the full blame for not executing.

I'm surprised anyone would give this guy another job in the sport. He is rather inept with in game management. I realize players like him, but come on. He makes horrible in game choices.

His in game management is just so bad. Only thing I can possibly even think up would be a manager in name but have someone who actually knows the intricacies of the games handle the in game stuff.

Kind of like when an nfl coach gives up play calling duties lol

I'm surprised Rizzo hasn't been fired yet. His choices for managers are horrible and some of the blame of Washington not advancing should go to him. If I was the Nats, I would not let him get to pick another manager.
