They wanted to bring him back but sure seems Dickey is going to retire so I think thats why they declined his option.

A question posed on the mob chat yesterday...... Would you as a Braves fan trade Freeman and all of Kemps contract to the Astros for Bergman. The Chat mod said it would be a no go for the Astros because of Kemps money. So the second question would be how much would you pay down Freeman's money if you did do it?

I'm not dealing Freeman, for sure not for Bergman and have to send them money.

Yeah Freeman goes no where. We're close, why would we trade a top bat?

Why did the diamondbacks take Swanson over Bregman?

I wouldn't do Freeman for Bregman straight up. Freeman is young and on a relatively cheap contact (compared to salaries being handed out). Money isn't an issue for the Braves either. No need to trade Freeman to unload salary.

Idk...... with me it depends on how much of Kemps salary we're talking. Freeman has the better bat as of now. Bergman is younger, will make significantly less money over the next 4 years and has more defensive value. If we are talking eating 3 to 5 mil per season, with a spec coming with Bergman, I'd give it serious consideration.

Brave world..... that would be a great debate. However as far as this one goes, getting rid of Kemps contract, is the biggest part. Freeman vs Bergman, I could actually make an argument for either. Getting 13 to 15mil over the next two seasons off the books with Kemp opens up endless possibilities and you have another 20 mil with Freeman off and 20 between Colon and Dickey, The Braves would actually be able to be big spenders. Freeman is one of the most elite bats in baseball, however if trading him gets me an future All-star 3B man, a true front line starter ( with the money saved) and open up a spot for Acuna in the out field, I don't think it can be as simple as I love Freeman so no!

That said Houston' batting order would put up record numbers and would have to be the odds on favorite.

Freeman is worth Bregman + a top OF prospect IMO. Kemp devalues that a bit, but Freeman has been putting up MVP caliber numbers (when on the field) and isn't that expensive. That is extremely valuable.

I like the idea of Teheran for Bregman straight up. Maybe we throw in a spec.

Well that won't be happening, you would have to send a very good spec or two with him lol
