Like if he got a deal like Jay Bruce I may go ahead and pull the trigger. He is way more valuable than that, but at a certain price I think the value we gain in signing him outweighs the value of the 2 draft picks and intl slot money. As the odds of those picks being even major leaguers are not that great. And the odds of them providing the value Cain will is even lower.

I'm not saying I'd be all in for cain, but if the price was low enough to keep us out of the luxury tax id do it. Though that's pretty unlikely.

Giants and second baseman Joe Panik have settled for $3.45 million, avoiding arbitration.

Apparently they were only working on 1 year deals for arb-eligible players, I wouldn't read too much into it.

They usually work on long term contracts during spring trining. Wouldnt be surprised if they lock him this year. Especially after losing Arroyo, pretty much shows they are committed to him as the long term 2b.

Reminiscent of Denard Span posting an offseason workout on Social Media right before the Giants signed him.

Could have saved 1.6 million by nontendering Gearrin.
