    Ellsbury would be terrible.

San Francisco has a need for a center fielder, but the Giants have their own luxury tax concerns. Even if the Yankees are willing to absorb a significant amount of the remaining $68MM+ that Ellsbury is owed, theres no indication that the Giants view him as an upgrade. San Francisco could, for instance simply sign a player in the Jarrod Dyson mold to a considerably shorter-term deal, knowing that hed be a vastly superior defensive option with lesser financial risk.

How gets interpreted as a valid trade option is beyond me.

^^^sorry Lincecum4cy, but I think Rush has the better lineup here. Belt is a good OBP guy but we need his power to protect Posey and Longo and any other big guys we bring in. Healthy Panik is a perfect number 2 hitter simply for his ability to make contact and his low strikeout rate make him an ideal guy to use in hit-and-run situations.

That is a pretty competitive lineup.

Also, trading for McCutchen and signing Dyson + Jackson would be a great direction for this team to go if the Pirates don't ask too much for Cutch (which they will)

If the Giants could somehow get Gerret Cole with McCutchen I'd offer up some decent prospects.

Absolutely, but I don't see us having the prospects to facilitate this.

We definitely do not have what it takes to get Cole. Even Cutch might be a stretch. Im sure Pirates would ask for Ramos just for Cutch.

Let's hope Neal Huntington reaches out to Bobby Evans.
