I never really soured on Allen. Still like him quite a bit. I realize he didn't test all that well at the combine, but his tape is impressive, his technique is better than any DE/DT in this draft, and his versatility would be a big boost for this D-line. Ideally Fangio would use him much like he did Justin Smith...starts out at the 5-tech, bounces inside as a pass rusher. He's more of an ideal fit in the 3-4 than Thomas is, at least IMO...and I really like Thomas as well, but I've never really wavered on Allen.

That news with Hall at FS is interesting because it almost seems like they'd rather explore internal options first before burning a high draft pick on the position. Hall is a guy I could easily see breaking out at either CB or FS next year, whichever they settle on. He showed flashes last year in the limited time he got and was the most intriguing of the DB's that Pace drafted last year. Agree with toovey on Marcus Williams...major sleeper, could legitimately end up the best Safety in this draft. If he were coming from a more reputable program (and that's not to say Utah is nothing, but they don't get a ton of national exposure) I think he'd be mentioned alongside Hooker & Adams.

I thinking the Bears are looking at either Thomas or Allen. I'm taking one of those two or Trubisky.

Could be a decent FS with his length and ball skills he played some in college. He gotta add some muscle cuz his playing style fits a safety

Ran a 4.55 at his pro day

He does kind of remind me of Haha with height and playing style, he's actually a lil more athletic than Haha.

The Deondre Hall FS project doesn't push me off Hooker at 3rd overall.

I think Hooker will be an elite NFL FS and there may not be many other players available at third overall that will be elite at their position or elite NFL playmakers.

Only time will tell, but I still want Hooker at 3rd overall.

My best case scenario is a trade down with the Jets and go BPA there.

If Pace sticks at 3, I want Hooker or Trubisky.

I just can't get to a safety at 3. In a trade down at 6 or lower, hell yeah I'm in. It's just that QB and pass rushers are two of the more important positions in the game today.

In today's passing league, I'm not scared of any Secondary player in the Top 3, if they project to be elite at that position. And yes, the projection is merely opinion and not 100% guaranteed. QBs are over-drafted every year due to need more than caliber.

Hooker roaming in CF makes the whole secondary tiers better for years to come, IMO.

I remember when the draft market correction happened on RBs.

This draft two safeties could go Top 5 and I'd imagine up to 4 Secondary players going Top 10.

If hooker turns into an Ed Reed type player for the next decade, no one will be upset he was picked at 3.

Its obviously a risk but so is Allen or any other QB taken at 3, especially in this draft.

I'm sorry but that is an outdated line of thinking. If a player as an elite talent, it's an elite talent regardless of position. At this point Hooker is a better safety than Trubisky is a QB. The Bears need playmakers and they need players who can play from Day 1. Neither of which describes Trubisky, at least not for 2017. If Hooker is the BPA at 3, he better be the pick. I'm tired after settling for second or third options at positions. I want elite players on this team. If the Bears like Hooker (or Adams) at three, does fuss it up. Take the player.
