New England Patriots charge for tap water

Don't know if anyone saw this story, but apparently the New England Patriots ran out of water due to the heat at their last game and started charging fans for cups of tap water. $4.50-$5.00.

Too many wussies drinking water! Drink beer... your at a football game!!!

Pushing that aside, that is pretty low... but they are well within their right to charge.

Im pretty sure they were charging for the cups. I've been to a bunch of games and sometimes I might sneak some booze in. when I ask for a cup of ice they usually have to charge you like you were getting a drink because at the end of the game the vendors are responsible for how many cups are gone.

A lot of places the bottled water is just bottled tap water anyway.

Obviously doesn't apply to the big brands, but if you get Wegmans or Tops or Giant or whatever bottled water, it often is just municipal water, bottled.

For some reason I always thought places that sold food had to offer free tap water.

Well people that spent $45 on multiple tap waters are idiots, they should have bought the one cup and gone to a drinking fountain to refill it (unless the Patriots were charging for that too).

They had it roped off with a VIP list. If you weren't on it you had to lick someone's elbow to hydrate.

In the not too distant past (and maybe still today some places) theater owners required employees to charge for cups as a way to dissuade them from giving away drinks to their friends.

However in this case the prices were far more than necessary to cover that.
What's the price of bottled water at the stadium?
    gotta love 'referential' treatment
