I think you let Abreu playout his career here ....like Konerko did......he wants to and he is a leader in the dugout...

IMO the Sox should make up their mind during this season on Abreu.

If the young guys progress, and we truly think an extended Abreu would make us contenders in '20, then sign him now. Were not going to land any huge names and waiting for them to sign will make Abreu one of the better FAs driving up his price.

Avi, I am OK with either. All the analytics show he wont be close to what he was last year. If someone is willing to trade us for the value he provided last year, trade him. If were not 100% satisfied with the offer keep him.

Though GM Rick Hahn pointed out that the market “wasn’t necessarily kind” to right-handed power a year ago, about 10 teams are seeking a first baseman, and Abreu may turn out to be a cost-efficient alternative following his excellent season.

The Sox can replace Abreu. If it turns out that he has the trade value that they expect, he gawn.

You can't replace his veteran leadership and mentoring of Moncada & Robert ....
