Will Sakic ever trade Duchene ?

This has gone on forever. Joe has put himself in a corner by keeping the asking price too high and not budging. Now Duchene is in camp with the Avs, probably disgruntled, not to mention coming off a career low season.

    Thoughts?

He'll be traded, their in no rush, Sakic is waiting for the best offer

It's taking a lot of time because multiple teams are interested & some of them are struggling with the cap.

His best option right now is to start the season with him and see how he performs. If he can bounce back to a pace closer to 60-70 points (like he's capable of) then he could get closer to what he's looking for. The tough part is Duchene admitted that he was affected last year by the trade chatter, so how will he react/perform with how thing have unfolded.

They're in no rush? If not Sakic should be.

See how he performs? Everyone knows how he can play. And everyone understands u is capabilities.

Sakic is over matched unfortunately for him. Great player, lousy exec.

You're right, everyone saw him crumble and give up on his team when his name came up in trade talks. Nothing like selling low on one of your best players!!

Honestly I'll throw another option out there....sign him to an extension and build around him. Colorado is finally starting to get some young talented pieces coming in that'll help improve the team. Right now Sakic will get pennies on the dollar for Duchene and its evident as teams are balking at Sakic's asking price.

He'll be better, They've got Varlamov and Johnson back, Duchene is a better scorer then he is two way.

I definitely think overmatched is the term to use here. He only served two years as an advisor in the front office before given the reigns of the entire operation. He needed to have time to work his way up to this position.

To be fair Ducjene wasn't the only one who quit last year. Salic hasn't backed himself into a corner. Duchene has proved what type of player he is and still young. There are multiple teams in on him and why not wait on an offer. The teams is already stupid young as it is. 3 rookies up front and 3 on the backend. Trading him probably doesn't mean more of a tank cause we will be bad this year anyways.

Well Peter Forsberg opened his mouth over the weekend, said he would like to see Duchene benched as he wouldn't like to play with someone whose heart isn't 100% in the game. Now all sides are playing damage control.

That has to suck for Duchene. Joe needs to lower the asking price and move on. He has no leverage.
“It’s about winning,” Stoudemire said. “You win, you’re going to get on national TV. Simple. In Phoenix, we won — Western Conference finals three, four years, playoffs every year. We won. If you don’t win, nobody really wants to see you.”

Duchene and Yakupov seem to have a little chemistry. Both tied for team lead in points with 5 and Yak has 3 snipes.

Ya I wouldn't actually call it 3 snipes lol.....one was an open net because Rask got to aggressive and couldn't beat Nail to the puck and another was a goalie pulled EN where the puck literally didn't cross the goal line until after the net was dislodged (even then it wasn't Nails stick that put it over the line).

In two games vs Boston he didn't look impressive and I expect this to be his last year in the NHL.

Nail Yakupov... by far and away the worst generational talent of this generation.

Yupp. Best player Duchene has played with in a few years...sadly.
