New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays Sept. 22, 23, 24. IGT

New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays
Friday, September 22, 7:07 PM ET , Rogers Centre

    Masahiro Tanaka, RHP

Tanaka is coming off a win over the Orioles in which he allowed two solo homers over seven innings, striking out eight. He last faced the Blue Jays on Aug. 9 in Toronto, lasting just four-plus innings in an 11-5 Yankees win.

    Marco Estrada, RHP

The 2017 season has not gone as expected for Estrada, but he has been strong of late. Estrada has allowed three earned runs or fewer in all but two of his last 11 outings. Last time out in Minnesota, he allowed two runs over eight innings.

New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays
Saturday, September 23, 4:07 PM ET , Rogers Centre

    Sonny Gray, RHP

Gray endured his shakiest start as a Yankee last time out, allowing five runs and six hits in four innings vs. the Orioles. Prior to that, Gray had compiled a 2.66 ERA in eight starts for New York, though he was just 3-5 due to a lack of run support.

    Joe Biagini, RHP

Biagini has been inconsistent from one start to the next. In his last start, Biagini could not make it out of the second inning, allowing six runs (four earned). Prior to that, he tossed a career-high eight innings vs. the Orioles.

New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays
Sunday, September 24, 1:07 PM ET , Rogers Centre

    Jordan Montgomery, LHP

Montgomery was sharp last time out, hurling six scoreless innings of four-hit ball vs. the Orioles to pick up his first victory since July 25. He defeated the Blue Jays on June 3 at Toronto, tossing six scoreless frames.

TBA is a tough match up every time out there.

    I think they win 2 of 3.

Has anybody seen the latest photo of Alfonso Soriano?

The man was at the Trop for the Rays/Cubs series this week and he was massive.....He Looks like he is trying to win Mr. America. He had Softballs in his biceps and a massive upper body....he had to be 245-250 and not his usual playing weight of 165 in 2002 or 195 in 2014.

Sonny has been an a waste!

Chance Adams could have replicated his starts and we keep some specs..

Gray was a good pickup, just not getting run support. He will make a solid #2 going forward.

We will see Adams in ST next season.
We’re pointing out that these statistics breed false narratives, and we value the truth. This isn’t about replacing old numbers with new numbers, or attempting to dissuade anyone from enjoying the aesthetics of the game. It is simply about telling the average fan about the reality of what actually happened on the field. The “Holy Trinity” of baseball statistics fail at this most basic task, and so they are not worth deifying any longer. - Dave Cameron

Ellsbury is 24-for-56 with 13 walks in September, giving him a .543 on-base percentage this month.

Sox last two series, one against Toronto and the most important 3 against Houston could be our shot to sneak in for division. Trying to stay positive.

    I guess I wanted more,,,,

My concern with Gray is his soaring Flyball rate.....He allowed 8 homeruns in about 90 innings with Oakland and with the Yankees he also has surrendered 8 homeruns but in only 50 innings....Now how many were hit in Yankee Stadium that traveled only 325 feet?

Yup. Need Cleveland to lose a game or two so Houston still has home field to play for that entire final series.
