Wow. Raiders place K Sebastian Janikowski (back) on injured reserve, per @AdamSchefter. Giorgio Tavecchio to make NFL debut Sunday.

$3m for a kicker who will kick at most half a season. Is that right?

Severance for the longest tenured player in team history.

    Dopey, but sort of elegant.

In that case if it's actually goodbye Jano, it's probably worth every penny.

Tavecchio is not a bad kicker. If he does well, it could be it for Jano.

It could be the end of jano either way potentially.

Tavecchio was determined to play in the NFL and went undrafted in 2012. After 5 years never being on the roster his time has finally come. Time to see what he has.

Bright side is the Raiders have Derek Carr instead of Jason (field goal) Campbell @ the QB position. Let's just score 6 instead of 3!

    Yes this please.

Watching Tavecchio in preseason these last few years, I'm not sure he is a long term option. I think our scouting team should be scouting kickers from here on out.

Honestly I would add Roberto Aguayo to our practice squad and let him sit there all year. Go into next season with him some 7th/UDFA kicker and let them battle it out.

He's not even a short term option, imo.
